Why don't the Jays just always play at the opposition's field. Like what they are doing with the Nationals after this Rays' series. Just do it with every team.
You play at their ball park but if the Jay's are supposed to be the "home team" they bat last.
Kind of figured that’s where they’d end up after the Pittsburgh fiasco. I’m a little bummed because the stadium is not really set up for TV like the Big Leagues are. So we’re likely going to have wonky camera angles and sup par lighting. So as a fan I’d rather them just play as the “home” team in away stadiums. But I get it from the teams perspective. Not having to travel every two or three days, unlimited access to training and amenities, and some semblance of normalcy.

I agree but with a couple weeks and unlimited scaffolding they can make the cameras work. Also, no fans to worry about blocking. I would be more worried about the lighting. I can't imagine you would be able to put up lights in a week.
Will be interesting for sure.

This sure seems like MLB forced the Blue Jays hands here, and basically told them that they are playing in Buffalo.
Combined with the fact that Maryland wasn't going to let them play in Baltimore.
It sounds like they will play all 4 games in Washington coming up and assess from there.
Buffalo needs lighting and clubhouse upgrades.
The other thing here is that the arena the Sabres play in is accross the street so maybe they can get access to their facilities for gym and training needs.
Looking at the Jays home schedule, they play the Nationals on the 29th and 30th, which they confirmed will be played in Washington. They then play Phillly from the 31st to the 2nd. They then don't have a home gamevtill the 11th. I am guessing they will play the 2nd home series in Philly, to give more time to get Sahlen Field ready.

Its sounds like the Jays had 4 or 5 contingencies in place, due to the condition of the park at Buffalo this was close to the last choice.

With all the film and tv productions that are shut down right now, I'd think they'd be able to find an abundance of rental lighting rigs around Southern Ontario and New York State.
They do play night games at the stadium already, so it's not like it has no lighting. They'd likely only need to enhance what they already have with a couple of rental rigs to bring it up to everyone's standard.

I'll add maybe my favourite Jays video, the magical 2015 year where they got jobbed out of Game 6 ALCS by the neckbeard fan reaching over the wall for a home run (the 1 run difference in the game) and an expanded strike zone in the 9th suddenly when the Jays had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no out and down by the 1 run. Revere, Navarro and Donaldson all had no idea what was going to be called a strike. Jays would've won game 7 and swept the Mets like the Royals did.
Doesn't seem like 5 years ago now. Anyways, the great video

Also, could you imagine the Jays getting to the WS and playing those games in a AAA park? MLB would surely move it out of there.
If the Sabres arena is across the street, they should use that as the main dressing room. Have the small one at the stadium for just the basic place to go for injuries and bathroom breaks during the game. Force the away teams to use the existing small trailer or whatever they have (thinking of the Cannons with Atco trailers as the dressing rooms), and that could be a mental advantage for the half season of home games.
While the park may be underwhelming by current MLB standards, I don't think we're talking about something on par with Foothills. It is still considered one of the best parks in AAA ball.
If the Jays were to make it to the WS, or even the ALCS, I could see them playing the entire series in the same stadium and just have the Jays play the home spot in the order for the games where they're designated as the home team.
Also, that's still a few months away, and will be after the NHL has left Toronto, so the federal government might be more co-operative with allowing the teams to cross the border during the series if they stay within a bubble similar to the NHL setup while in Canada.

#neverforget.
That game still pisses me off when I think about it.
