I was sort of wondering why they picked a Minnesota game for this ceremony. Checking the schedule I guess the flames don't play on a Saturday night at home essentially all of 2019 except for this game and the last game of the year. Weird schedule.

Yeah, but Boomer is a pretty horrible radio guy. I noticed a few times when he tried to cut off Conroy while he was speaking or just trying "too hard" to be one of the guys. It would have been a lot better if it was just Warrener and Conroy speaking.

Weird request but....I have PL tickets for the game and would like to sit closer for the ceremony. I am assuming and hoping the crowd fills in quickly for this as it should. Does anyone know for any reason that they are going to the game and can't make the ceremony for whatever reason? I would be interested in sitting in lower seats for the ceremony if anyone knows that their seats will just be sitting idle until game time. Maybe if this is the case for you PM me if you don't mind me sitting in your seats for the pregame ceremonies.

So I imagine Lanny and Vernon will be there, or in some way part of the tribute?

Gotta make some money, ya know. Key is to have a sold out crowd against a team that's not usually an instant draw. Vernon's retirement was against a pre-Toews and Kane Blackhawks. Lanny's retirment was against Harford.

While it would have been more dramatic for Iggy's ceremony to occur prior to a Flames game against Edmonton or Vancouver or any other instant draw, putting Minnesota in there makes more sense. That's capitalism, folks.

And he scored his 500th against this team. And he always showed up against the Wild. Didn't he "own" them? There's that.

At lunch will Iggy carb load with them, or drink hippy dippy kale smoothies with Johnny and Monny?

It has been this way for years. The Roughnecks get preference on Saturdays in the new year. It's an issue of maximizing revenue.

1) It had to fit Jarome's schedule with his family;
2) This is the last weekend of the year the NHL permits major events pre-game.

You are Ken King! hah

Seriously though, the flames mentioned multiple times previously this year at various events that they were having trouble scheduling it with Iggi and his family. This one worked and its a Saturday (last possible Saturday) so it makes sense.

I think the original plan was to do it before the game against the Islanders a couple of weeks ago. When they announced the retro jersey schedule, that was the only game where they were scheduled to wear the retros that wasn't against another Canadian team or one of the original six teams. They are confirmed to be wearing the retros tomorrow, even though it wasn't originally on the schedule.

Then, there were reports that the retirement might not happen this season because they couldn't make it work with Iggy's schedule. There was a story posted earlier this week where he talks about coaching his son's team in a tournament in Quebec City. That tournament's schedule overlapped with the Islanders game.
