Did he see it off the stick? It barely passed Valimaki’s ass
I think it is quite possible you are wrong

I'm not sure how people on here can defend Smith right now. 2nd goal clearly his fault with the rebound, third goal bad positioning. He hasn't looked the same since last year's injury. Way too inconsistent play. We are dead in the water with him as our number 1. Tre HAS to know at this point he has to make a move. If we fall too far behind in the standings, he should be removed himself.

Best thing about Oshie during this interview. "Yeah we aren't playing well, but keep pucks on the net and you get some goals."
Even the caps are playing poorly and they know it.

Pay attention. There are 3 players clumped together in the mid high slot that completely screen Smith.

Smith is playing like crap and he needs to turn it around. Yesterday.o

So even if he makes a massive save it’s okay to rip him if the rebound isn’t exactly perfect?

Even if there was a guy in front of Smith, he did nothing to try to track the puck.

Holy God, watch the replay from behind the net. What in the blue hell are you talking about? Whatever, it is like people defending Brodie when he gaffes and costs the team, nothing is ever anybody's fault, it is all pure bad luck.

Sorry but you stop a guy on a breakaway, you aren’t thinking about rebound control and it’s nonsense expect that. Make no mistake, Smith is no longer an even average goalie but he has bailed the team out on at least 2 occasions this game, but he was way too deep on the Caps second goal and probably should’ve had the third, so his play is probably a wash right now. Not exactly what you want from your starter.

Agreed, the play was to the left, smith did nothing to look left and chose to stare at the back of the Jersey. Hes not playing sharp.

Monahan and Gaudreau chasing puck instead of covering their man was the main reason for that goal and is consistently a problem defensively.

The shot is taken as he's moving from right to left to try and see around Jaskin.
What do you want him to do specifically on that play? The D needs to move Jaskin from in front of the net, all Smith can do is try and see around him, which was made even more difficult by Valimaki and another Cap blocking the shot from being seen as well.

Smith’s rebound control has been poor and costly.
Positioning after the big save was poor, he was on his ass and Backstrom missed the open net
Last goal was a screen but there was room for improvement in tracking.
The overall body of work this year is alarming
