There is a huge difference between the roster-makeups in St Louis and Calgary. Prior to the Stastny trade the Blues had no players under 25-years-old in their top-nine scoring forwards, and the average age of this group is 29-years-old. The Flames by comparison have FIVE players in their top-nine scoring forwards under 25-years-old, only one over 30, and the average age of the group is 24.5-years-old.
The Flames situation is not remotely dire because of how many young, impact players they have added to the roster in the past five years.
