Has anyone heard what the condition is on the pick? It seems to me that I heard this morning on the Fan 960 that it can turn into absolutely nothing if the Kings don`t make the playoffs and they don`t resign Iggy. Can anyone confirm or clarify?

That is correct.

That's pretty much it. So, if the Kings win the cup or if Iggy signs with the Kings after the season end, it's a 4th rounder pick going to the Avs. As far as I know, this is pretty much a favor to both the Kings and Iggy. Class act from Sakic, IMO.
"Update: Conditional pick is if Kings win cup OR he re-signs with them, the Colorado Avalanche get the fourth round pick. Also, the Avs retained 50 percent of Jarome Iginla’s salary." - source: Here

Was really hoping the flames would pick him up... especially since the acquisition cost was so low. Oh well... I'll cheer for the kings to catch the Oilers after we pass them first.

For that price, it's pretty much a freebie even if a 4th rounder is given up in a crappy draft year.

I actually hope that the Kings will bomb and Iginla will just go away cupless...
.... Unless he re-signs with the Flames next season for league minimum and wins a cup for us!

I agree with everything except I think he'll show that he's worth more then league min over the next 18games.

How about if the Kings go all the way, Iggy gets the Cup, comes back to Calgary and wins another cup with the Flames. It's a double win!

I hope Iggy makes the playoffs and does well, just not at the expense of the Flames.

Gaborik-Kopitar-Iginla is the line for Iginla's 1st game. Iginla actually leads that line in goals this year.

Was at the flames' luncheon today and Burke opened up a Q&A session.
When the iginla question was asked, he said:
1) that boat has sailed.
2) even if they bring him back, where would you slot him in top 6. Someone mentioned Chiasson's spot, but Burke said Chiasson is not top 6. Bruke doesn't feel it's right to slot a player with his legacy in the 3rd or 4th line.
3) Player also didn't want to be dealt to Calgary

Sounds like they did kick the tires. Probably at the owners request.

It was only 15 minutes for Q&A, I've been replying to the threads that relate to these topics.

Strangely enough, Tanguay is suddenly on the NHL network pregame show tonight and he detailed his relationship with Iginla over the years.
Alex said that most guys want the puck in one particular area to get the best shot off possible. However, with Iginla he simply said "just get it over to me". He didn't care where the puck was, so long as he could get the puck with a chance to shoot. Tanguay would detail how he would adjust his body position at the last second, sometimes going down to a knee...whatever it took to get the best shot off possible. Most guys would flub little shots along the ice if the pass was in front or in a bad spot, but Jarome could get a great shot off no matter how bad the pass was. AND, he never complained to Alex about the pass. Never said he has to do anything better. That if he didn't get a good shot off, that was on him (Jarome). Tanguay called Jarome one of the best pure shooters ever.
Tanguay went on to talk about their little set plays in certain situations or areas of the ice and also discussed how Kopitar can have success with Jarome. I've heard him speak about some other things so far in this broadcast, and I'm actually very impressed with Tanguay as an analyst. All in all, a great guy to have on a panel.

I was there. Question asked about Trelivings contract and sounds like he will be back. Burke said he didn't want to be GM and he doesn't want to hire another one.

Oh, was also asked about the wideman effect.
Burke said if he said yes he would be fined, but stats seems to show that is the case. Things seems to have got better as of late ever since wideman has been scratched.
