They never waive off icing when the attacker is ahead of the defender. That's the whole point of the hybrid icing guys...

But it's not just a race to the line, it's who has the best shot at the puck. Stajan was obviously going to (and did) get the puck

Not as lopsided as the shot clock, but on the whole they are getting outplayed 5 on 5, yeah. Flames opting to pass over shooting on their plays.

Not quite that bad, there have been at least a dozen great opportunities that the team has passed or bobbled the puck instead of shot.

Yes and no. A lot of the shots are from the perimeter for the Sens and the Flames make some nice plays but don't get a shot on net. But there were long stretches the Flames were stuck in their own zone.
If the Sens didn't have their 3rd stringer in, they'd probably be ahead still.
