That means we're likely to get a Penn State and USC Rose Bowl and a Michigan and Florida State Orange. I'm not sure about the other two majors.

Thankfully we don't have to wait three days like normal for the rankings. They come out tomorrow at noon Eastern I think.

As a sidenote next year Fox's Big Ten deal comes into effect meaning that we will get more Big Ten games on Fox. Currently TSN picks up quite a few of ESPN broadcasts or we see them on abc. I think this will either be neutral or good news for Canadians since most of the Fox broadcast should be big-name games on the main fox channel and TSN should continue to pick up some of the ESPN broadcast. Apparently fox gets first choice of games in the deal so Mich vs OSU won't be on abc next year for the first time in a long time.
I prefer the ABC/ESPN broadcast crew but anything that gets us more college football is good news to me.

I think Penn St has a real shot at taking that 4th spot from Washington.

Florida I'd assume, do they have to take #2 in the conference or can they pick any bowl eligible SEC team?

Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan. Committee and ESPN simply will not be able to stop themselves picking a Saban-Harbaugh matchup. Penn State winning was needed to put Michigan in, and that'll be all the excuse the committee needs. Plus no offense Washington and Penn State fans, but Michigan is likely the only of the three who can give Alabama a game and not be down four touchdowns at halftime.

I would make OSU #4 putting the 3 conference champs 1 2 3 and that gets me a huge ratings semi Alabama-OSU.

Nothing changed in the final rankings, Alabama-Washington and Ohio State-Clemson.

OU is actually in the Sugar Bowl against Auburn I believe.
At the end of the day it's hard to argue against the committee selections, all four teams deserve to be there. There is a good case for Penn State too but at the expense of who? I'm happy with it, but I would argue that if you are going to put in a non-conference champion into the playoff, and especially if they are in ahead the the conference champion of that same conference then they should not be ranked any higher than 4. I know it's the way it is to set up a possible OSU-Alabama final but it still isn't right in my opinion.

Reading Wikipedia, it was the home to the champion of the South West Conference before it broke up and its bigger colleges formed the Big 12.
The Sugar Bowl is now the bowl for the best available Big 12 vs best available SEC.

No arguement that those matchups would be great, but all having eight teams in the playoff would do is shift the debate of who is 3 or 4 down to who is 7 or 8, and in all likelihood there would be more debate as there are more teams potentially in the mix. In this instance, why not USC, or why not the only other undefeated team - Western Michigan? Or Wisconsin.
The debate will always be there. Stick with 4 teams and keep the bowl traditions alive as much as possible. That is one of the things that makes college football so great and 8 teams would take away from that in a large part.
