Regulation or lack there of isn't the scalpers fault, I just find it weird that people have such anger towards scalpers, off all the areas of capitalism you could get mad at, I mean if reselling stuff at a profit offends you don't buy the bleeding tickets!!
I won't be a buying a ticket from a scalper because I can't afford it not because I have a moral problem with scalping. Wanted to see the Hip a decade ago and now when I'm in the right place I can't.
Been trying to see them for 10 years but oh well, thanks scalpers for taking that away. No big deal, as long as scalpers get their profit it's all good.
Scalpers took the tickets within minutes and left me completely unable to go to a show. No worries, music shows are for the wealthy not for fans that are poor and followed them for years.

As you get closer to the show you'll see stub hub and ticketmaster resells for about face value. Keep looking.

I'm wondering if there is a way to safely trade tickets from 1 show to the other. I have some tickets for the second Van show but can only go to the first.
I've been listening to "Yer Favourites" pretty much non-stop since hearing the news. "Nautical Disaster" is one of favourite songs ever and it hits me pretty hard every time it's come on.
Gord is my favourite lyrical story-teller ever and he has such an incredibly unique voice that you only need to hear him sing 3 notes and you know exactly who you're listening to. I wasn't a big Hip fan when they first came out, but every year I seem to like them a little more and I'm starting to consider them one of my all time beloved bands.

Just got an email saying more Hip tickets available.

From the Hip...
Due to an overwhelming demand for the Man Machine Poem tour, we have adjusted the show design to accommodate more seating. Tickets for the newly released seats will go on sale on Tuesday, June 14 @ 10am local time. There is a 2 ticket limit per person.

I've been doing exactly the same and Nautical Disaster is one of the handful I can't help but play again and again. I get goosebumps to a lot of his lyrics/verses. He will truly be missed by an entire nation and we (those in or around their 30's/40's) are incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to be alive and raised during the Hip's astounding era of Canadian music.

Probably too late in the game to do a true "in the round" production, but I'd imagine/hope they're opening up the back of the stage to provide an OK viewing experience from behind. Maybe some extra video screens for those behind the stage? Who knows.

Never know as I don't design stages so I don't know timelines. Could be along the lines of what Pearl Jam does. Not a true in round but opening up a good chunk of the back of the stage.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. In the round would be too difficult especially in the dome. Plus the floor tickets are already sold.
Actually your cash going into the company allows them to operate. You may not be personally doing any work, but your money is.
Although I have no interest in the concert, I do love a good scalping debate.
On this point, it depends what type of stock you are talking about. If it's the IPO, then yes, your cash does go to the company to help them operate. If it's any transaction after the IPO, the money is going to whoever held the stock before you bought it. If you bought 1,000 shares of the facebook today at $115 per share, you aren't giving the facebook $115,000. You're giving some guy who anonymously wanted to sell his shares at that price. He might have paid $20 per share and made a nice profit, or he might have paid $121.08 per share and just lost a few thousand dollars.
When I buy a stock, I hope it goes up. I'm betting that it goes up. I'm really not doing anything more than that.

I was lucky enough to score some tickets in the presale. The terms and conditions clearly state that the tickets are non transferrable and that I must show up in person with my credit card receipt to get into the show.
