Not thrilled nor disappointed with this trade.
Chavez fills the 4/5 spot in the rotation, has had 2 serviceable seasons in Oakland's rotation since his departure from Toronto.
Mediocre ERA and WHIP while pitching in a pitchers park. But, we need starters.

Estrada

Dickey
Chavez
Is likely the 2016 rotation.

Ugh. He wasn't good the last time he wore a Blue Jays uni before, at least Hendriks proved that he's a capable long man in the BP for the Jays. Questionable move. Advanced stats point towards the "O.Co Coliseum factor" on why he had enjoyed some success in Oakland. He's going to get lit up again in the AL East.

Chavez is alright. Has a better rep then Estrada had when he got here anyways. To bad it cost Hendricks but it's a legit starter for a reliever.

I was excited to see a Blue Jay trade make the Australian sports news but disappointed this is likely the last we will here of the Jays down here.
In conclusion Toronto needs to acquire another Aussie.

Wow, that would basically put us right into contender status for next season, and all my concerns with the off season would be gone. I do fear that this may be the "token" offer that we always hear about so that Rogers can say they were in on it.
The difference this time is looks like the player they're throwing the offer out to actually really wants to play here. I'm remaining optimistic, but I really hope Rogers isn't screwing with us and ends up putting out an offer that's way below other teams and then we end up missing out on an ace who actually wanted to come here.
Please prove me wrong, Rogers, please.

I find this hard to believe. Seems like either the Jays are being leveraged to drive up the $ elsewhere, or it's an unsubstantiated source.
Cubs, Dodgers, Cardinals, Giants, Red Sox, are all much more likely destinations IMO.

Even with Price, I'd still like to see Dickey as the number 5 in our rotation and another signing/trade for a stronger number 4. I do realize that is probably dreaming and I also realize that signing Chavez basically says that's not happening, but still, one can dream.

Lately a lot of players have been saying how much they love the city, maybe Price fell in love too. Estrada said his family didn't want to leave, and Donaldson just said how he loves the city and wants to play his whole career here. If Price stays this would be huge for the city of Toronto in general. We really need a winner after so many years of sucking at everything.
