Skating and passing was much better in the first (hence some of the drawn penalties). I agree the defensive play was about the same.

I think Brodie being back and breaking up Wideman and Russell will help a lot

Not sure why anyone's blaming goaltending. Not a single goal against can be blamed on Hiller. Maybe Carey Price keeps this a 3 goal game, but 29 other teams don't have Carey Price.

The issue in this game is pretty clear: The stretch pass does NOT work against the blues. In fact they love all the icings and fishing out desperate tips out of the corners to gain zone time. Can we try some controlled 5-man unit zone entries? I mean, other teams seem to have success with these things...

Flames need an agitator. Someone to get the Blues to play stupid. Every good team has one except us.

Ferland could be a good troll - big, skilled and showed he can get under people's skin.

I was expecting some of this in Bennet too.

If Bouma is hurt do Poirier or Hathaway play that way?

Think everyone is being a little harsh... Seen some good chances for both teams. Refs put the whistles away for the 2nd period cause of ridiculous "game management." 3rd period is our best one. Come out flying and start the comeback!

9 goals against in 2 home games. Yikes. Tighten it up.

He's the kind of player that give the bench a boost with is non-stop motor and speed and gets the play into the offensive zone. Won't do much on the score sheet, but he can make a difference in changing the momentum. Would rather have TJ Brodie back though.

Granlund was one of our best forwards in camp and I'd like to see him with the big team. I just think he deserves to be here and makes the team better.

Or you know... teams just have teams they don't do well against. The Blackhawks struggled with the Oilers for a while. Even great teams have their kryptonite. Yes, we're still rebuilding, but definitely much closer now. The pieces are in place to start moving forward. But it's not going to be instant.

And even if you throw that excuse out, it's ####ing October. Always so many messy games in October and wonky stuff happening. Also we're missing our #2 dman and best puck carrier/zone entry guy. Gio doesn't look the same with Dougie.

I'm gonna wait and see. Not conclude on what this team is/isn't based on 2 2/3 games.

This. Especially in the powerplay... Could we just give the puck to gaudreau with speed coming out of our zone? That seems to work so much better than the stretch passes through centre ice or the hard dump in.

Yeah, this new ultra defence is off to a slow start.

But Wideman is more of a fourth FWD.
