Cause it's not a discussion.

It's one side going after a whole fan base for a G-rated joke. Look at what happened when all I said was, in essence, "Is this really that big of deal".

The whole site seemed to have aneurysm. That's not an environment that welcomes healthy discussion.

It's one thing when you can clearly point out a lot of people who are being tangibly affected and insulted by an issue (like the red mile) and another when people attack you for something as insignificant as a chant which is the equivalent of saying "you play hockey like Katy Perry".

Do you understand what the issue is here?
My point is everyone is so indignant about the Katie Perry chant issue as being misogynistic, yet they are perfectly OK with a crowd of 20k people bullying a player verbally.

Separate issues, because equally harmful. Joining in on a "Ricci's ugly" chant, is condoning bullying. Just like a "Kati Perry" chant is condoning misogyny.

But that hasn't happened here. We labelled a chant as sexist, not the people chanting it.

That...isn't what witch hunt means.

In a nice twist however, witch hunts primarily targeted women.

Holy crap, looks like Kris Russell's dad was a bullfighter!

A lack of size has been something the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Russell has grappled with his entire career. But it never has held him back. He won't let it. He and his twin brother Ryan, who plays for Leksand IF in Sweden, have plenty of fight.

This is a trait they come by honestly. Their father Doug, known as Shanky, spent 14 years as a rodeo bullfighter. A bullfighter is a bull rider's best friend and is often mistaken for a rodeo clown. But there is a big difference. The rodeo clown entertains the audience, while a bullfighter's job is to protect the cowboys from the angry bulls.

The elder Russell ended his rodeo career when the twins were born. He didn't want his sons to be around the rodeo. So as they got older, they turned to hockey. This was fine with Doug, now a scout for Medicine Hat.

IIRC, they did an intermission segment on it on one HNIC. I'm sure Ron McLean (the dorkiest Stampede fan ever) had something to do with it.

Great logical conclusion there. Top notch.
these things are only ever an issue if people make them out to be.

there are certain things in this world that are significant enough that they should be talked about. this is not one of them. I know many female fans of the sport, and not a single one of them that actually cares or is affected by this.

most in here are male fans attempting to look oversensitive for the female fan population, while crucifying those that are downplaying it. seems more a charade than an actual issue, at least within the confines of the thread. just my opinion. of course outside the game there are real issues of sexism happening, and should be talked about, but this is a bit of an eye roller to be quite frank..

Hey the White Knight angle came up! I think this thread has covered all the bases now.

LOL

"The only reason you guys care about this stuff is because you're trying to get laid by one of the heavily underrepresented female posters, despite your geographic proximity to said women or your marital statuses."

Sounds totally believable.

Hey the only reason it was there in the first place is because the slow-ass site wouldn't let me edit quick enough!

Okay, I think we can solve this: let's just have Polak and Rubecube post scans of their transcripts and we're done here.

lol what am I proving? If I got an A?

I was just saying I don't need the concept of feminism and it's importance explained to me.

lol I cannot believe you actually posted your transcript polak. I also can't believe you didn't stay out of this thread after getting eviscerated a few pages ago. Thanks for the entertainment but I really don't know what you've gotten out of this besides lost respect from other posters.

Haha I didn't read his post fully and thought he was accusing me of lying. I quickly deleted it once I saw the errors of my ways.

As for "losing the respect" and staying out of this thread, I really don't care. I like arguing and debating. It's fun. A lot more fun than patting each other on the back about how awesome your shared opinions are. You don't learn unless your view points are challenged.

It's also the internet and some of you take it way too seriously.

Yeah, because everyone needs to know what I got in my Germanic Studies 450: Cultural History of Vampires course.

No, but my point was more that I think you have to actively try to screw up to get less than an A in 100 level courses.

Wow, That is rich.
