Simpson is definitely a really solid color guy.

Are you thinking an ex-oiler as a color guy for the flames?
Blasphemous, give your head a shake

I like Ferraro as he has seemed to tone down the Healy angry guy routine in recent years. Its a tough line for a colour guy. You want someone who can add something to the broadcast without being grating. I think you need to know your market, a colour guy can into more analysis on a local Flames game than the Phoenix guy or even a national guy with a giant audience.

An interesting name for PBP is Rod Pedersen. Radio PBP for the Riders and also did the radio PBP for the Regina Pats for years. He does some reporting for Sportsnet in the CFL sometimes. Just an interesting thought. I don't have any info on it just making an assumption.

Id change the channel if Loubardias was doing play by play. I can tolerate him on the radio giving some insight or analysis but can't see him doing Flames play by play.

Doubt this would happen besides Rod would have to be pretty medicated to keep his focus off the Riders while doing Flames broadcasts in the fall.

Well it wouldn't really matter seeing how Rogers Sportsnet doesn't own the Stampeders or Flames so I don't see how that factors in. But, whatever.

What exactly is Brent Krahn's full time gig now?

I'd love to see him given a chance. Loubo and Krahn would make an interesting duo. Krahn is well spoken, affable, and knowledgeable.

Kelly Hrudey's the best example. When I see people go on about Kelly Hrudey and his anti-Flames bias I just laugh.
Sorry to be ants at a picnic, but the Flames scored three goals in a loss to the Blues on Feb 17 2003.

I hope the time you spent looking that up was worth it.

I think the future of PBP at fan 960 will be come a lot more clear in the near future (Like this week) maybe even the television spots. Either way, things are about to change.

Is Dan Russell a candidate? He has been pining for the Canucks gig for years, and was hurt when Shorthouse got it.

He's been paying his dues doing WHL games. I think he is like Kerr - better suited for radio talk sports.

Dan needs a job since he is ending his nightly show exactly 30 years to day he began his show.

VANCOUVER — Dan Russell calls it a hiatus, not a retirement, but after nearly 30 years he is ending his nightly Sportstalk radio show.

Russell will wish his listeners one more “pleasant good evening” when he does his final show next Thursday night on CISL AM 650.

Krahn works in sales for a major oilfield service company in Calgary. Taking a radio broadcasting job would be a like taking a 75% pay cut for him, not going to happen.
