Several surprises and a couple disappointments:
I don't understand Nash and Marleau. I think Giroux and St. Louis would have been better. I, personally, would have swapped out Carter for Richards.
Don't like Hamhuis. Would have gone with Seabrook, Giordano or even Boyle. I understand PK Subban's upside, but his downside is so dramatic. With the level of play Canada will see in the quarter finals and (hopefully) after, PK's going to be sitting on the bench or in the press box a lot. Would a more well rounded player been better? If you want to have Subban on the PP, he has to dress and then you're covering for him and sheltering his minutes so the likes of Ovechkin, Malkin, etc don't eat him for lunch.
I am happy that neither Hall nor Eberle (or J. Schultz, ha) made the team. I thought Couture was going to be a shoe in. Hopefully they didn't cut him because of his injury. If he was on their final list, they should have named him and then named an injury replacement.

I still can't believe Hall didn't make it... Didn't they see him score a goal the other night?!?!?!?!

Canada avoided a international incident by not taking Thornton. Imagine him scoring 4 goals against Norway or Slovenia.

was Hudler named to the team?
I like Benn, not sure about Marleau though he has certain great attributes especially on PK. But I really wanted to see Giroux in...anyhow, can't please everyone.
My biggest question mark is Nash!

This defense is spectacular. If Subban actually is playing with Doughty, that's our #1 pairing by the end of this tournament.

This is the first I'm hearing of this, but some posts have alluded to dressing and having 13 forwards on the bench and 7 defensemen? So the bench will have 20 skaters instead of 18? Theoretically, PK Subban could sit as the 7th defenseman and come out just for PP time and the other 6 defensemen can just be in their regular rotation?
If so, I understand the Subban selection better.

Some questionable selections, but Team Canada usually goes with the Vets. Not nearly as insane as the Bertuzzi selection in 06.

It must be incredibly frustrating to be Martin St. Louis. He's been jerked around his entire career and even now - after all he's done - can't make the olympic team.
Feel bad for the guy.

Chris Cuthbert put his team Canada 2 on twitter.
Hall- Giroux - St. Louis
Couture Thornton Burns
Skinner Staal Neal
Lucic Seguin Iginla
Richards Vermette
Campbell Seabrook
Giordano Phaneuf
Beauchemin Letang
Boychuk Boyle
Crawford, Fleury, Harding
That is probably just as good as the other big nations, could medal, and couple potentially beat Canada A.

Yup, 13 fowards and 7 defensemen can be dressed. 20 skaters total.

Agreed, but if he didn't make 2010, he wasn't making this year, simply due to age.
But its dumb. He belongs there far more than either Kunitz or Nash.

IMHO:
Remove Carter, Nash, Hamhuis, Vlasic
Add Thornton, St. Louis, Giordano, Seabrook
