I didn't know about Carter when he was working for the WRA. But the fact the Carter was fired after WRA knew about his credit record speaks positively about WRA or Smith's characters.
A friend of mind just got a low level job at a bank and he had to go through credit check before his job offer can be confirmed.
Somehow, credit check is not require when you are the Chief of Staff of Alberta controlling billions of tax dollars.

LOL, that has nothing to do with why he left the Wildrose though. He made some comments about Stelmach on twitter that were deemed inappropriate. His corporation having a bankruptcy wasn't a concern at all as far as I know.
Like I say, I fail to see why it would be? Companies go bankrupt; I know of businesses that are very profitable to this day that have made some bad decisions are forced into creditor protection, or on the verge. Its sad for the business owners and very stressful I would imagine. Just because his business went under doesn't mean he is a terrible guy or can't run a business even. Its one of the risks that you take when you run an enterprise unfortunately.

I don't think a credit check in this case would make a difference. It was his company, not him personally who defaulted.

The latter came to light at about the same time as the Twitter incident. It was a mutually agreed decision that we part ways.

Please. It was all the twitter, and he brought up the other issue on the way out the door to help the Wildrose not get involved; there as a Don Braid column about the whole thing that I read when I happened.
Point is that the Wildrose accusing Redford of poor due diligence is just more of the pot calling the kettle black. The Wildrose did the exact same thing, with the exact same person in question. Might as well admit to that! I'm not even against you doing it here, I just wish you had enough integrity to say its the same scenario and admit that there is nothing wrong with it.

I have a great deal of respect for Don; however he (like you) weren't directly involved. Either way you are free to believe whatever version you like.

I'm pretty sure you are confusing me with someone else on this comment. I agree completely with you on the Carter issue. It is hypocritical for the Wildrose to be pointing fingers on this. Especially since we hired him back the second time, taking his word that things had been resolved.

While I am not saying that the Wildrose Party isn't gaining some momentum, I am naturally very leary of any poll which is sponsored by the Calgary Sun.

I'm leery of all polls. I've probably mentioned it before, but I like this website.

They track and combine all polling. Again though, any poll is just one small snapshot in time.
The headline from the Sun is misleading, the Liberals were actually the biggest benefactor of the recent shift not the Wildrose.

The articles on today's Sun are overzealous. It does bring a good point that it is insane to build a large part of your platform on tougher drinking and driving laws. Nobody would argue that tougher laws are not necessary but to think that people will vote for your because of it is just dumb. And to say people who don't support you, don't support tougher drinking and driving laws and thus are murderers are just even dumber. Redford is better suited at running a nursery than a province.

I don't know... Gerry Forbes had a pretty convincing argument in his "column" against snow route tickets based off of a poll taken on his Facebook page. That sir, is journalism.

The timing of this election could make it an interesting one. I bet Redford wishes she could put it off until the fall.

Her hands are tied. If she does something about Gary Mar, the Mar's supporters which are still in great number, could defect to Wildrose. If she doesn't do anything about Mar, there'll be a public outcry.
So she chooses to send it to some ethnic committee to be the black cop. But I don't think she can wash her hands clean on this one. Whatever she does or doesn't do will still be on her.

I wonder if she can become Alberta's Kim Campbell?

Ya I read about this today and read the 308 post. Most of the gains aren't for Wildrose (which has basically gone nowhere) and they're still showing a big majority. The one thing I thought was shocking was the 308 showed the Wildrose gaining one seat in all of this and it was the seat that Danielle Smith is running for. Was she ever in danger of losing? I can't imagine that...

Along the lines of public inquiries..... this blogger has brought something to light that could be interesting. http://www.themoderateseparatist.com...-of-first.html

Yeah, I'm not sure how they do the calcs on individual seats. So far as I know there has been no public polling based on constituencies.

I doubt that the projections today are going to be where the election ends up. What I find interesting is the feeling that there could be changes this election. There hasn't really been a campaign (that I can remember) since Ralph first won where the PC's might lose majority government.
The campaign will matter and if Redford keeps getting bad news and negative press every day who knows?
