PTSD is a very serious mental health condition. Hockey is entertainment. Entertainment should never cause PTSD, if it does you need to cut it out of your life and find entertainment options that work better for you maintaining a healthy life. And (speaking from personal experience), PTSD is not something you can walk off, real professional help is needed for rehabilitation.

Tidbit:

Sharks and Flames had talked about Andersson but the asking price from Calgary was too high so Sharks signed Orlov + Klingberg and claimed Leddy. Ask was 30 or 33 plus a younger roster player.

Now SJ though will flip a defenseman as they have 8 signed and 1 needs to go.

Bet they asked for Ferraro

Andersson > Orlov+Klingberg+Leddy

Sharks wouldn't give up one of Joshua Ravensborg or Haoxi Wang (they're 30 and 33 picks) plus a young roster player, of which they an abundance.

Instead they sign 3 barely serviceable defenseman. This is why Sharks will never get out of the basement, and when they are finally looking to do so all their ELC's will be up and they will have to negotiate bridge deals, or risk losing players as they won't be able to afford them all.

I'm not sure how asking for #30 or #33 was 'too high' to ask for, considering what Dobson got. I also assume the younger roster player wasn't anyone that was a blue chipper either.

If anything, I'm glad this trade didn't happen then.

Wait so my idea of a fair trade with SJ (30OA and Bystedt) was too high for SJ??

Well I'll be damned.

Dobson signed a long-term deal with Montreal. From reports, Andersson is looking like a 1 season rental for anyone outside of Vegas (if true).

Dobson is 25 and did have 70 points on a terrible offensive team like NYI.

Ras career high is 50 playing with Gaudreau and Tkachuk

I think the issue was there was no guarantee of him signing beyond 1 year. I think the Sharks would have easily taken the offer if they knew that.

Still think we can get more, particularly if we now wait. Lindholm got a haul, and only played a handful of games with Vancouver on an expiring contract. Hanifin returned a bit more than this too.

Dobson is also 6'4''. Dobson is just a more valuable asset. Bigger, better offence, younger, more room for development, etc....

If the Flames had got #30 or #33 from SJ, they probably would have just traded #32 & one of the SJ picks to move up a few spots to draft Potter anwyay.

I saw some stars fans suggesting a Robertson trade to restructure their roster.

The deal was
Zary+ Rasmus for Roberston + Dumba.

That would be pretty crazy. Value wise I think it favours the Flames abit but it's close enough and helps the Stars re-balance.

Ooof.

None of these tidbits sound like good news.

Seems like the best offers on the table for 1 year of Raz is maybe a 2nd round pick plus a so so prospect?

If that's the case might have to hold him until the TDL where you probably get a 1st for him as a rental to a contender.

At this point I think it's a pretty safe bet that Rasmus is starting the season with the Flames and for sale at the trade deadline. Teams have their rosters mostly locked down or have already pursued alternative options after the flurry of activity around draft day and free agency.

Would rather give up Coleman with retention than Zary

I also wonder if teams will want certainty of not having a bad start to the season before trading first round picks.

For example, Dallas has traded their 2026 1st and their 2028 1st to Carolina in the Rantanen trade. The 2026 pick is top 10 protected - if it ends up being a top 10 pick in 2026 then Carolina gets Dallas’s 2027 1st (unprotected) instead. If Dallas were to trade their 2027 1st to Calgary in a trade for Andersson, it would remove the protection on their 2026 1st round pick that was sent to Carolina.

If Dallas starts strong in their first 20 games of the season (say something like 12-4-4), they are likely less hesitant to remove their pick protection for their 2026 pick. The acquisition cost is not likely to go up by much during those 20 games.
