Coldest it's been since 89 here in Portland. The worst thing is the wind. Up to 45mph gusts. It's already knocked down two trees in our parking lot. First thankfully didn't hit anything, second one, though, about 70 feet tall took out a carport and garage wall. Somehow JUST missed the guy's car that was parked there.

One frozen set of hot and cold water lines, plus a clogged drain somewhere that causes sink downstairs to fill up. Blah. At least he drain somewhat cleared after running enough hot water down the drain.

I also forgot to mention but I don't know if it applies, that AHS requires a home and heating system to be able to maintain 22 degrees for health and safety.
This is a requirement for rental and commercial properties, not individually owned homes. Logically if its a standard for health and safety, the builder may not have done a proper job in some capacity.

Just got an emergency alert to limit usage to essential electricity usage only to conserve power to avoid rotating outages.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Alberta Alert for a grid issue.

I could have sworn we got one during that late June heat wave a couple years back.

In theory we should be able to avoid the outages if people follow the advice in the alert. I'm doubtful that will happen though.

...and power out in the office at YYC. You'd think they'd kill it somewhere else so the airport could stay up.
Doesn't much matter I suppose, almost all the flights are already cancelled.

Alright emergency alert, good point, I suppose I don't need every block heater plugged in, multiple car battery chargers, multiple space heaters, electric fireplace is cranked, every single light on in the house for literally no reason, tv on in a room neither me or the wife are even in.
hmmm, maybe I'm part of the problem....
Nah, probably city council's fault or something
....brb, gonna gonna turn some stuff off

Real time grid data is showing the internal load of AB is equaling, if not slightly higher than our generation. Frequency hasn’t dipped enough yet for rolling brown outs but it is a real poasibility

Just shut things down in Edmonton. 1. It is the lesser city in Alberta. 2. It is NDP.
