Nice work, I should hit my goal of 500 hours tomorrow morning, was on pace to beat it 2 weeks ago but the cold had other ideas

500 hours? Crazy impressive, I just looked at my stats and I'm at 303 hours.

had a couple unplanned low-activity months but for all activities (running, hiking, skiing, cycling, gym, stretching) am coming in at about 400hrs and just shy of 7000km (all modes). Can't complain given various life events and complications, employment ups and downs, and a definite lack of bbq's.

For all the bad stuff that we complain about regarding Calgary cyclists I have to say that it is a pleasure sharing the roads with them after experiencing SoCal cyclists. It is really scary out here at night on streets where there might be cyclists because they do not have lights and they dress in dark clothes. It is impossible to see the cyclists and I honestly don't know why they would be so stupid. When I get onto a road with a bike lane at night I sit up in my seat and I start scanning the road like a hawk because I get so paranoid.

as a cyclist and pedestrian in Calgary, please bring this good habit home with you. We're all responsible for the safety of all people in the public space, whether or not we're in hi-vis clothing or properly lit up.

End of year stats courtesy of https://statshunters.com
Dealing with a protruding disc in my back this year forced me to slow things down so I'm ~3500km fewer this year, than last.
I also started racing for the first time this year. Just local club races but it was a lot of fun and if you've ever wanted to give it a try, check out the Crankmasters Wednesday Night Series. All levels of racers are welcome.

Garmin tells me I rode 3,647kms in 229h28m.
Total up was 20,337m (a mix of ride and hike)
A decent year I suppose.

Holy crap, some of you guys are beasts! I missed a bunch of time with COVID and the Filthy McNasty in the last few months, just recovering now.
Looks like I’ll be ending the year at 3,911km / 28,747m el / 144 hours.
At least I’ve got 828km of running and 155km of swimming to go with it.

Well, if we’re all sharing….
I did a little over 8500 kms, 50 000 meters of climbing, and just over 300 hours total between road, mountain, and indoor (and a bit of fat bike). Next year I’m going to start gravel riding as well, I’ll have to figure out how to divvy up my riding time.
My excuse list is a job that was back to pre Covid levels of busy, and wanting to spend time with the people I live with. If I didn’t want to hang out with my family, I’d do way more biking .
Seriously though, overall a pretty good balance. I’d really just like to trade the indoor riding for more outdoor.

I don't track much, so I have no idea, other than this was a pretty weak year.

Definitely not a hard core biker like some here -- I do it on a few of our vacations (there's a resort town in Central Oregon with 30+ miles of paved bike paths) and when something is preventing me from running at home (injury/strain).
So only a paltry 408 miles over 43 hours.
Other activity included 441 miles/89,614 feet elevation of hiking over 74 hikes/208 hours
and 750 miles of running.

Yep it’s always a tough balance between your own physical and mental health, riding buddies, work, family and non riding friends. If you can combine commuting to/from work with riding or running that makes a huge difference. Like yourself it’s tough to balance what type of riding to do so some months I’ll hardly touch one bike discipline.

I hit both my goals of 2022kms of biking and running ending with 2554 on the Bike and 2031 running. Goal for next year will be 2023 miles on the bike and 2023k for running again. (Though I cheat as my commuting miles are on an ebike)
Just got to increase the bike commutes next year

I ended up just shy of my goal of 3500 km. Ended up with 3465, and that was with adding a long ride earlier this week. Hoping to hit 3500 this year!

Trying to start this year right so I just registered for the 2023 Gran Fondo Badlands. I've never ridden in an actual bike event before so this should be fun.

If you can go do a bit of a pre ride. It's a deceptive route. Doesn't have many climbs, but what they have sure does count.

Dang - brought my 2020 Trek Farley 7 (Fatima II) into Ridleys for service as potential issue with freehub/pawls/cassette (was fatbiking Fish Creek new year's eve and pedalling but no engagement).
Well, the dreaded call back that freehub not reparable and need new wheel (ratchet ring loose) - of course, outside 2 yr warranty. Seems to be bit of know issue with Trek's Bontrager's freehub too - saw a group of Edmonton fatbikers posting about it.
Oh well...
Plus, 2 week wait now for the wheel to come from Trek in Wisconsin. Rough start to new year, biking wise...

Personal vehicles are no longer allowed up to Moraine Lake. We'll just have to contend with shuttles and buses on our rides up there.
