Because he doesn't realise you cannot create words, they develop organically out of the culture they are developed in, words like tweet and hoover are, as such, priceless, he is an incredible moron, this is arguably the stupidest thing he has done, perhaps not the most expensively stupid, but easily the most performatively stupid, even dumber than X frankly

It also doesn't work. Sure, the plural tweets can be Xs. What about a tweet? That's just an X? But the site/service is X. Did you X on X? Like, a half second of thought would make you realize it doesn't work with the English language(and I have no idea WTF he is doing for other languages on Twitter).
Which leads to a new problem. With Twitter and tweets, they are globally used words. So do you post in English, and now correo in Spanish? Poste in French? Na in Dutch?
It's all so stupid the only conclusion you are forced to come to is that Musk is a moron.

Your replies get boosted to the top so everyone sees you, but you can hide the fact that you have paid privileges to get there.
I think the next step is he'll just get rid of the check altogether, and you just pay for the extra features and having your replies prioritized. Right now all the blue check does is tell people you gave Musk money, which can be embarrassing. So getting rid of it altogether is almost to obvious of a next move. Don't worry though, he'll start selling account badges so narcissists can still feel special.

I suspect being able to turn it off might help add some buyers who want the features but don't want to known buyers. Most of the current bluechecks are proud sycophants who don't want to hide it.
