From TSN.ca (sorry if this has been covered)
http://www.tsn.ca/wild-owner-i-wish-...anzal-1.755283
"As a result of the Hanzal-White trade and the 2015 trade which brought Chris Stewart to Minnesota, the Wild do not own a pick in either of the first two rounds of June's entry draft."
More fuel to the Niederreiter fire, regardless of what team ponies up for him. They'd love a mid round 1st wouldn't they?

They would love a mid-1st, but I highly doubt a first alone gets it done.

Oh for sure, but its a great starting point.
1st, prospect and a roster player?

It's really hard to say, but my guess is 1st, Ferland and a good defense prospect like Kylington or Fox. Or they will ask for Bennett+ and not look at getting pick if they can get a very good young player.

Probably not.
They would probably be looking at a triple asset package. A 1st, a highly regarded prospect, and a roster player.
I could see maybe our 1st, Ferland and Kylington being a starting point. It wouldn't be too bad if we then resigned Versteeg as well.

Why would that facilitate a need to re-sign Versteeg? Ferland would be replaced by Nino, who is a much better player. Plus I am not a fan of Versteeg coming back because it seems like he is useless when he's not scoring.

I wouldn't see it as Nino replacing Ferland as much as Nino filling a gap. Ideally on a good team, Ferland should be a bottom 6, as would Versteeg.
You're right though, it wouldn't necessitate re-signing Versteeg. I just wouldn't want to be top heavy with no depth. Right now we are neither top heavy or deep on RW of course.

I think lack of depth is a term thrown around too much. The Flames do not lack depth, they in fact have that in spades; they lack top end talent.

So, we are most likely losing Engelland and people want to trade Ferland?
Man, we'd be a soft team.

Don't see how we don't bring back Versteeg... the powerplay was garbage until he was put on it.

Its how the league goes I guess. Last year Pittsburgh won with speed. This year smaller mobile defensemen are all the rage like in Ottawa & Nashville. Heavy players that don't produce up front and large slower defensemen aren't desired right now.

A lot of "don't spend money on ufa players" people here.
To them I ask: when is our window?

Every team has players that can jump in and stick up for teammates though. Like Iginla used to say, with tougher players on your side, you play like you're 4 inches taller.
I'm worried about the Flames if they lose both Engelland and Ferland. They are soft enough.

I don't "want" to trade him, but if what you are giving up doesn't hurt you somewhat, then you aren't likely getting something great back in return. Most trades aren't fleecings.
I actually think Ferland is probably more of a spare part and Minnesota would ask for more.

I think you underrate how physical Niederreiter is. Although I agree with Engelland, he needs to be brought back or we need to replace him with someone as (or more) physical.

I think Ferland is more important to Calgary than he would be to Minnesota as well.

No... he wasn't.
Versteeg started playing the majority of his powerplay minutes on November 23 against Columbus, coinciding with the team's improvement on special teams and overall. Before that, he was largely on spot duty.
