Is Holloway even that good? You’re paying him and Kane real money to go away.
I’d want a unprotected 1st in 2026 or 2027

Buyout after Kane bonus on July 1 is a bit better though

Neither did a very defiant Mike Smith.
But Smith soon then had some manilla envelopes delivered from one of Katz's swiss accounts, some with papers to sign, others with cash. Never heard from again.
Kane still has a lot of debts not offficaly registered, either with various casinos or bookies. Katz's network can also make some of those headaches go away if Evander goes into hiding/claims injury.

Maybe the Oilers do Kane dirty. Frame him for a contract breach violation that terminates his contract. Remember, he's a previous offender.

Teams use LTIR to manipulate the cap and create teams with rosters way over the cap come playoffs. They’ll be able to say to Kane either you do this or we buy you out… which means you get less money overall (because likely no one else will sign you) and no chance at a cup run.

Lucky for them he couldn’t sit down during his last game of the Finals so that hernia can easily last 9 more months.

Smith was 40. Kane turns 33 in a month.

This ends in one of 2 scenarios:
A) Oilers match and are put in an even worse cap situation
B) Oilers don’t match. Contending team gives up a 2nd round pick. Flames get Holloway. Oilers lose their best young player.

Can’t trade a player for a year after signing an offer sheet.

So? Smith had a signed contract to play for another year, and he was going to honor it and not be forced to retire, and specifically said he wasn't hurt either.
Then the issue just went away and he was on LTIR and Smith hasnt spoken a peep.

So Connor has decided to try and outscore everyone, instead of building a defence, in his first few weeks as GM! Lol

Mavi’s agent I mean Oilers president today said that it was a hip when it was a hernia just a week ago. I guess Kane used all of his hernia miracle recovery powers but it injured his hip in doing so.
Get this though…no surgery and no rest prescribed. Kanes agent will be consulted; I guess the agent must have finished med school at some point to be consulted instead of an actual doctor.
I predict:
This ones going to be a 4-6 month surgery starting in October and LTIR after consulting with Vegas’ doctor.

Hip, hernia, rib, finger, cramps. They’re all the same to an Oilers doctor.

So based on my Twitter timeline the Oilers won free agency, have the deepest forward group in the league and will win multiple cups for years to come

LOL
How is signing 'a cheap deal' anyone's best shot?
An off er sheet will get him more money, and if not matched, more ice time and opportunity in Calgary

No one was going to give Smith another contract at 41. His career was over after that contract.
If Kane doesn't play next season, his career will likely be over but if he plays next season, he might be able to earn another contract and get another few years of NHL paycheques.

‘Doc, my hip hurts.’
‘Take two Vicodin and put ice on it. Next!’
‘Doc, I think my finger is broken.’
‘Take two Vicodin and put ice on it. Next!’
‘Doc, I got these boils and a fever and I feel like crap.’
‘You have a staph infection. Take two Vicodin and put ice all over your body. Next!’
‘Doc, I feel very depressed. It's hard just getting out of bed and coming to the rink. I feel like I'm dying inside.’
‘Welcome to Edmonton, kid. Take four Vicodin and pretend you're in Florida.’

It's going to be so annoying watching the oilers get out of whatever ####ty contract they choose in order to stay under or "legally" circumvent the cap.

So how does it go from feverishly trying to trade Kane and having no takers to now he has this hip injury that will hold him out…..I mean I know the answer but come on NHL it’s embarrassing
Almost bank the following,
- Bowman as GM
- Kane on LTIR
- Carter Hart by the New Year
And my wildcard in coach Q brought in as an associate/asssistant coach

I can't imagine Kane can afford to just ride LTIR...he probably at least needs to play to try and land another deal after this one.

He will ride LTIR this year. Arvidsson will mysteriously reinjure his back late Feb and clear another few million for D at deadline. Both will be healthy by, but not before, playoffs.
Thanks Vegas
