I'm of the minority opinion that Flames are better without them both. So I disagree that it has any bearing on BT's post season expectations. IMO it is good asset management to get picks/prospects for a couple of guys that don't figure in the long term plans.

Might not be too far off. There is only one other player in the league that is so dynamic. The forward log jam doesn't hurt either (as a reason for watching).

He doesn't seem to be coming back, Ramo worked it out and came back (to average).

Then there is the xmas trade freeze that complicates things. If Bouma comes back sooner than later, do the flames send Granlund down?

Granlund brings more, and there are a couple more in Stockton that deserve a chance. I hope BT can clear out the log jam.

League and player sources have confirmed that Jets captain Andrew Ladd has asked for a six-year deal worth at least $41 million, that defenceman Dustin Byfuglien has requested $55 million over eight years and that defenceman Jacob Trouba wants more than $56 million over the maximum eight years allowed in the league’s CBA with its players.

I'm sorry, but Andrew Ladd is not worth $7M a year. He's worth about $4M max IMO. Trouba has regressed since his first year. I would try to bridge him. Byfuglien, I'd trade him on the deadline. Some team is going to overpay him with term, and they're going to regret it.

Well, I guess we know where Hamonic is going now.
Jets will move Trouba for Hamonic and maybe something else. Those devils.
I bet they turn those three guys into some really good assets.

Depends if Trouba is going to ask for the same money from the Islanders and if Snow thinks Trouba is worth that kind of cash.

There were rumours that Trouba does not want to play in Winnipeg. Him asking for the max might be a way for his camp to pressure Jets in dealing him. Sounds kind of similar to Hamilton and Boston TBH.

Uhh, what? Ladd consistently gets 20+ goals and 50+ points, he's the captain of the team, he's big and he plays hard. No way he's only worth that.

But the Jets aren't in cap hell like Boston.
If the demands of Ladd and Byfuglien are true and they get those amounts, thats a $3.1m rise for both players and it could well be less in terms of the cap hit. Gives them plenty of wiggle room to negotiate with Trouba wouldn't it?

No, but there is no way Trouba is worth $56M over 8 years, at least not after his first 3 years anyways. If he takes a hard stance and doesn't sign for anything less, are teh Jets really going to sign him to that amount?

No one can question that Hiller was very good last season, but the motto of professional sports is always "what have you done for me lately?" And lately he has looked absolutely terrible. The team has won its last couple games in spite of poor goaltending. Also, I don't think it's valid anymore to use sample size as an excuse. 10GP, 3.76 GAA, .862 Sv%. That is horrible horrible goaltending. With the early hole the team has put itself in, they can't just keep playing him hoping he finds his game or hoping the team can put up 5 goals on a nightly basis. He was good last season, seems like a good guy and teammate, but those aren't realistic reasons to let him keep him around.

But if I'm understanding the process correctly, they still have all the cards.
Apparently his agent has said his demands aren't correct, so maybe this debate is somewhat pointless, but anyway...
Both sides, according to the report, have agreed to leave negotiations until the end of the season. That to me shows how much power the Jets hold. They are happy to leave it and, worst case scenario, let it go to the draft.
If the talks get nowhere, they could trade his rights at the draft, or, if they don't like the return, they could let it get to the offer sheet stage. Say he gets offer sheeted to a $3.6m-$5.4m contract. Jets decline, get a 1st and a 3rd.
Or, for a higher deal, they get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Thats if he even gets offer sheeted, because teams might not want to give up that amount of picks for him.
They still hold all the aces. You're right, he isn't worth that and the Jets won't pay him that. For what its worth, he'll more than likely lower his demands and sign something in the $4m-$6m IMO. Unless his heart is set on a move away from Winnipeg, which then makes things very interesting.

TSN Insider trading:
Penguins considered Carlyle for head coach, but no contact made
Teams looking for top defencemen: Buffalo, Colorado, Columbus, Edmonton, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Tampa
Nashville and St. Louis might be selling closer to the deadline
Some believe Tyson Barrie could command $6 to $8 million per year
Avs aren't shopping him
Teams are sniffing around or at least scouting Barrie in case Avs consider moving him, but wary of asking price

I get the feeling that Trouba is pulling a Hamilton in Winnipeg. He is demanding a ridiculous contract hoping they trade him. I think Trouba for Hamonic happens this summer or sooner potentially in a larger deal than one for one.
Not sure if the Jets want to keep Ladd and Buff now could be a good time to sell high at the deadline and keep building for the next year where they have good young players developing.
If the Flames are watching the Sens I wonder who they would be after?

Except for the fact that Hamilton didn't do that
