If you like baseball then a new documentary on Netflix is a must see. The Battered Bastards of Baseball is a tremendous film about the last independently run baseball team in the major league controlled minor league system. No spoilers. Just watch it.

Finally got around to watching The Many Saints of Newark, and I liked it - but also, it should have been shot as a series.

Spoiler!

I watched a Paul Newman classic on Hollywood Suite, "Cool Hand Luke" The story of a southern man sentenced to a prison farm, but refuses to conform.

Is it streaming now, and if so which service?

We also really enjoyed Don’t Look Up, thought it nailed current society pretty well and was pretty entertaining.

Two movies I watched on Amazon Prime that I also thought were really good. Greater, really liked that one but I think you need to be a bit of a football geek to really like it. The story itself is a good one. I also really liked Emperor, that one probably has broader appeal. But both good watches in my opinion.

Looks as though it will be available on Crave/HBO on January 7.

I had been working on a big critique for The Matrix Resurrections in the spoiler thread but then thought that was giving it too much credit so I'll just leave a warning, as someone who enjoyed the whole original trilogy:

Bad, real bad. Do not watch.

Got to see Ghostbusters: Afterlife and I thought it was great. It's the most 80's movie I've seen since the 80's, and in a good way!

Just finished it and I really enjoyed it.

Wish they would have done something like this when Ramis was still alive.

McKenna Grace was fantastic, if they make another movie she needs to be in it.

Agree I've seen a few of her films now and she's really fun to watch.

Just watched Apocalypse Now, wow. Holy Christ was that long but worth it. So cool, such a fantastic movie.

Excellent!

Now go watch the documentary of the making of that film. It's probably even better than the movie.

The eccentric billionaire dictating things to serve his interests was all too believable, as were the cohorts of "Look up" vs "Don't Look Up" coupled with the bankrupt mindless media giggling at everything.
Still worth watching despite this spoiler?

Is it a common theme when working with Marlon Brando that making the movie is an awful experience? I heard some funny stuff from an old Christopher Reeve clip on Letterman when doing Superman. Well, maybe not funny.

Watched Power of the Dog, fair to say it's going to be an Oscar frontrunner. Slow and ambiguous at times but the cinematogrophy and performances are great.

The Lost Daughter, I think is my favorite film this year. Pretty remarkable that Maggie Gyllenhaal could pull something like this off as a directorial debut. And I think it settles for me that Olivia Colman is the best actor today. The score, by Dickon Hinchliffe, is also incredible.

If you liked The Florida Project I recommend Sean Baker’s new movie Red Rocket. It’s funny and dark with a former porn star moving back to Texas to get his life together (i.e. scam his way back into porn).
