I love when that happens, because it conveniently identifies the strugglers & all-season tire crew that are scared to drive on snow and keeps them all in a single line.
Meanwhile, I can happily drive up to the front of the right-hand / outside turn lane and safely merge onto the road, without being stuck in the line of 3 strugglers from the LH lane that make it through the light, merging at 22km/h.

You know what... you're absolutely right, I'm going to look at it as an advantage instead. Having a 4x4 with good tires is kinda awesome for that.

Brother in law lives in Coleman. The pass is great. Great mtb trails, no crowds. Some good gravel riding there as well. Short drive to Fernie or Castle Mountain for skiing. It has wind days, sure, but not as many as people think. By all means, stay away. More for me.

Coleman/Blairmore is less than an hour to two good ski areas, with a good little learning hill right on the doorstep. All the old logging areas probably make for some great backcountry stuff as well. Definitely potential there for the outdoor activities lover.

If the designers wanted people to use the right lane they shouldn't have almost immediately ended that lane on the NB Crowchild onramp!
Conversely, WGMG is mother####ers who turn left from the left-hand lane on the NB Crow to WB 50th offramp, and then cut me off mid-turn to get in the right lane on 50th to turn right onto the SB Crowchild onramp. The right lane is also a left-turn lane you peckerheads!

I don't even know what this Elf-on-the-shelf #### is anyway; it's supposed to be an all-seeing oracle that will rat your kid out for bad behaviour? I thought Santa Claus was already watching us masturbate, what with the knowing when we're sleeping, awake, if we've been bad or good, etc.

I’m pretty sure that if everyone accelerated at the same rate that the wider radius of the outside turners naturally creates space to zipper in the ending lane. It should be the smoothest operation and not even require shoulder checking.

It makes sense to have 2 turning lanes even if one ends. You get twice the throughput, who cares if the merge is a little slower after the intersection, at least you made it.

That's exactly how it works on 69th > EB Stoney... except when the well-tractioned in the outside lane out-accelerate those in the inside lane.

Yeah, it's stupid. It's marketed as "A Christmas Tradition" but the book was first published in 2005: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elf_on_the_Shelf
I'd say if your kids are at the age where they're questioning how Santa can watch every kid in the world, they're probably old enough to hear the truth.

Never really thought about the whole idea that the Elf was watching you, not something we ever played up at all. But the idea he was zipping around at night was awfully exciting for my daughter. It was awesome frankly seeing her fly out of bed every morning to find out where he was hanging out for the day.

I am currently in Garrison Green and I’ve stopped using that exit for a few reasons, that being one of them. The Richard Road exit near Valentine Volvo is way better if you’re going WB on Glenmore and need to access the western part of that development or MRU.

True, and I would also never bother getting off at Crowchild/50th if going to MRU or Garrison Green. I live on the east side of Crowchild, and will often get on NB Crow at 54th, go up the ramp, turn left at 50th and turn right onto the SB Crow on-ramp if I'm going to EB Glenmore. (If going WB on Glenmore I'll take WB 50th to Richard Rd., hang a left in front of the MRU entrance and take it past the car dealerships to the Glenmore on-ramp.)

I found the elf to be a great parenting tool for December. If my kids start acting up or won't listen, all it takes is pointing to the elf and they immediately fall in line

But what if you're in the Ides of March and you're in need of a parenting aid?

The threat of "Elfie" not returning next Christmas if they're bad has also been a great tool

My first thought was "geezer in the freezer" but I suppose it's supposed to be Caesar...

The Crowsnest Pass may be new to you but is no undiscovered gem. It's an okay place spend some time if you like outdoors activities but it's a terrible place to live as there's just nothing going on at all. Like absolutely nothing. It used to be a decent place in the 80's but it's a shell of what it used to be. My dad has property there and he can't give it away to his four kids. I enjoy life too much to rot there.

Waiting for the bus in -30 grinds my gears.
You're freezing your ass off for starters, but you also worry.
worry the bus came early. worry it's late, worry it's not coming at all.
We've all had enough experience with transit issues that the worries are legit.
