I was driving home from Falconridge at around 7:15-7:30PM and went up along 36 Street NE (the road right next to the airport, going north towards the tunnel). I saw a plane taxiing to the start of 17L, looked like a widebody (couldn't get a good look while driving). White fuselage and a red/maroon tail with a white streak that goes from the bottom of the tail to the top, with a plane or a bird at the end of the streak... I cannot for the life of me figure out what airline it was, I've never EVER seen it before. I've looked through Flightaware and Flightradar24 and found absolutely nothing...
Most likely Omni Air:
WestJet has a couple of their 767's on standby to operate the new London-Gatwick flights should there be a mechanical issue with their new 767's. I believe yesterday it was scheduled that WestJet Flight 1 to LGW would use them.

Testing navigational equipment in and around the airport. Ensuring everything is operating properly and within tolerances.

Was driving on Deerfoot around 17:30, and saw an Antonov 124 banking towards its approach. Man that monster looks like it should just fall out of the sky.

Here's video of it landing.
I thought I had an alert for the An-124 in my FlightRadar24 app, but nothing showed up. If anyone has tips for setting up alerts that would be appreciated.

I have alerts for A124's set up on my FlightAware account, didn't receive notification of this one coming because YYC wasn't in the trackers as the destination. So it doesn't trigger anything. However when they filed their flight plan to leave YYC the alert popped up. Nothing you could have really done in this case to get a heads up on landing, except by watching this facebook page:
What blew me away, was how low it was where I saw it. I was just past 130th Ave SE, and I saw it coming from the east, and then it did a hard low bank right and headed north to the airport. I pulled over to the shoulder when I noticed it coming. It honestly looked like it was only at 2-3000 feet.
My understanding is sometimes they fly real low if they have a huge payload.

This is more of a thing at cruising altitudes, as they fly and burn fuel they get lighter and can move up higher and higher to take advantage of upper level winds.
Coming in to land? No, they are simply flying at the altitude ATC is telling them to be at, or the published approach they are flying to the runway.

We flew in from YVR last week, took the north approach and the plane was making odd noises, which I don't think was landing gear.

Do they ever dump fuel?
What type of plane were you flying on? As a general rule only widebody aircraft have fuel dump abilities, single aisle ones like the 737's and such can only burn off fuel and not actually dump it.
As for the "odd noises" comment, that's pretty vague to even guess. I'd assume nothing out of the ordinary though.
