Whether they get the right people to vote for them is the problem - they get the most people to vote for them - not sure I would say people don’t want to vote for them
The reality is most peoples vote in this country is relatively irrelevant

Yeah, but did you ask the Filipino people in your community how they feel about this issue?
Probably not, because they scare you.

In fairness, the NDP and LPC could do a lot better too. Neither Singh nor Trudeau strike me as remotely smart enough to be in the positions they're in and I'm absolutely certain that there are more qualified and capable people in those parties who would be solid PM material, but internal politics and assumptions about marketability win the day there. The CPC certainly falls victim to the former but just doesn't seem to give a damn about the marketability piece, except as it pertains to the fringiest of its own voters.

Absolutely, that’s why it’s even worse. The bar isn’t high. It’s like watching someone try to jump over a small step stool and failing.

I just never thought he was cut out for a Leadership position. He was good when his job was holding people to task, but he's about as inspirational as undercooked pasta.

To each their own. Personally I haven’t seen any noticeable changes in his character or intelligence since he’s become leader but maybe his increased exposure in the media has given people a clearer picture of who he is.

Time and time again, Yoho posts what he thinks is a snarky headline, and the story actually says exactly the opposite of what he thinks it does.
Literally just happened in the Alberta politics thread too.
This is why people don't think you're a real person, either a bot or just an epic troll job

For me, PP is just as bad. His use of words like 'woke', 'radical' and 'socialism' are nausea inducing. He's incredibly fake and disingenuous. He comes across as a prototypical sleazy salesman, in that he's using buzz words to sell me on something that likely isn't true or only half true.
I find them both terribly unlikeable.

I agree with this post.
Unfortunately it seems like the choices are all politicians, which is unfortunate.

I remember when the WE inquiry was going on, I remarked that I loved PP’s tenacity and thought he should be the CPC PM candidate. Someone on here replied that PP is best used in an “attack dog” role and would make a horribly unlikeable PM candidate. Were they ever right.

Doesn’t have to. Things are working out pretty well for them. And whether it’s because of the threat or the fact that the policies they’re moving forward are agreeable to the Liberals, it doesn’t really matter. As an NDP support it’s a good situation.

I think I had the same conversation with someone. Feels a bit stupid now to see how one-note he was. I really believe that trying to appeal to the dummies in the far right ruined O’Toole though, he had some smart ideas during the leadership race. Such a shame.

The question when we get to the election will be, though, what has the deal accomplished policy-wise (and you know they'll try to spin some stuff that really had nothing to do with the NDP's support as being things they forced the Liberals to do), and second, where does their fundraising and support stand. If they've made headway in the latter it's an automatic win, and they'll have to convince people of the former to get there.
I'm honestly pretty agnostic as to how that will all turn out.

I did in fact think this all along but we had that exchange in August - post 1200 in here. You had already figured out by that time that he wasn't the guy.
