Yup that was a great film. Probably could have cut some of the filler out at points, but overall entertaining from start to finish. Great camera and editing work. Felt like my head was on a swivel the entire time.
Mark Rylance was the highlight for me. Creepy and comedically infuriating almost every scene. Yet perfect in his role. Great performance by him.

Also liked Don't Look Up, though I thought the Jonah Hill character pushed the satire maybe a bit too far. Still good, funny, and timely.
Oh I also didn't like

Loved don’t look up as well but am finding it very funny how some critics are calling it completely “unfunny”. Is MSM getting all butthurt about how they are being portrayed, even though it’s pretty much on the nose? Inflation causing major problems in the world? Naw let’s talk about what the kardashians had for Christmas supper!!!

It was unquestionably funny.
They really nailed the sense of "wtf is happening" when you looking around the media and political landscape these last few years.
The look up/don't look up movements/guy with the two arrows pin got me. Captured the utter nonsense people will rally around/get their social justice warrior on for.
Not to mention the incompetent administration with so many parallels to Trump in the initial stages of the pandemic (denial/delusion).
Jonah was full on superbad with the nepotist president's under qualified chief of staff son. Sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. The part where he said "we'll lay down some newspaper for you" to Lawrence was a knee slapper though.
Every conversation between the frail billionaire and others was gold.
Apparently some critics are too serious for satire these days.

My boy wanted to watch Venom: Let There Be Carnage. I thought the first one was okay but they upped the cheese factor and this one was cringey bad. There were some funny moments but this is just a massive waste of talent as this film almost has to be embarrassing for Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, and Michelle Williams.

Sony needs some new creative people at the helm, cause they've been pumping out a lot of bad films. They're still stuck in that 00s funk of visually cool comic book adaptations that had no substance in the story/script before Marvel Studios came along.
And if you're going to be connected to the MCU you might want to try to at least come close to matching their quality.
Morbius doesn't look any better.

Another recommendation for Don't Look Up. Leo is a full fledged movie star and I like just about everything he does now.
Jonah Hill was too much but the rest of it all worked for me. Ron Perlman had some of the best lines IMO.

Don't Look Up is a solid dark comedy. The reviews got it wrong.

I liked it too. Jonah Hill might have been fine as a Trump brat kind of role, but it's hard to not just see him as the regular Jonah Hill character he always plays.

Reviews took a weird turn in general a few years ago. There was a time 5-10 years ago that a 90-95% RT movie was usually going to be a must see movie. I don't know if it was Disney buying out the reviewers for all their properties, but it turned into everything half decent was over 90%.
Now it seems that the 90% movies are entirely bland, expensive movies, and a few solid art house movies. The 40-60% movies are often the more thought provoking, interesting movies. Maybe the better movies have some critics love them and some hate them? Maybe there is enough critics in the theaters and studio camps that hate expensive Netflix (and not theater releases), maybe Disney own all the critics? Whatever it is, I think there are lots of great movies that don't have great critic scores these days.

Don't Look Up was ####ing great. A darkly hilarious parody of the uber partisan, capitalist and media driven world we live in. So many great performances as well, the cast was spectacular.

I’m convinced that Don’t Loop Up is being skewered because critics felt insulted that the media is made fun of so much in the movie. And given what we know about buying/influencing good reviews, which happens all too frequently, I wouldn’t be surprised at all of the bad reviews were similarly coerced out of various publications and reviewers.

I liked the movie but didn’t think it worked well as a climate change allegory. It works much better as a general critique of the power structures that exits in media, tech, and politics.

I got Mars Attacks vibes until the last third or so. As I said, I enjoyed it. It was maybe a little too on the nose to be high brow satire, and maybe that's why the intellectuals out there aren't praising it, but it was funny and a little poignant at times.

Fatman. Don't waste your time. When I first saw the trailer I thought that it had potential. Turns out it was potential to be a bad movie. At least it lived up to that potential.

The parts that were good were great, but those were few and far between.
When you have Gibson and Goggins tackling this premise you should get something much, much better than what we did. You spend the entire film waiting for them to take that next step but it never happens.
Too bad. This had incredible potential.

I’ve watched YouTube clips of that series for years. It was only available for $$$ on Amazon every time I’ve looked, has that changed?
