For anyone wondering, here is a break down of the Flames picks in this draft:

1. 1st Round Flames (6th Overall)
2. 1st Round Blues (19th-22nd Overall) **Aquired in Bouwmeester trade
3. 1st Round Penguins (25th-30th Overall) **Acquired in Iginla trade
4. 3rd Round Flames (67th Overall)
5. 4th Round Flames (97th Overall)
6. 5th Round Blue Jackets (135th Overall) **Acquired in Comeau trade
7. 6th Round Flames (157th Overall)
8. 7th Round Flames (187th Overall)
9. 7th Round Senators (198th-211th Overall) **Acquired from Chicago in Karlsson trade

Plus where the missing picks went:

#1 - Flames 2013 2nd Round Pick - Included in the Michael Cammalleri, Karri Ramo for Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland, 2012 5th Round Pick (Ryan Culkin) trade with Montreal.

#2 - Flames 2013 5th Round Pick - Included in the Jordan Henry for RIGHTS to UFA Dennis Wideman trade with Washington.

Nine picks. Can't wait.

Lazar 12th?, Domi 25th? and no Klimchuk in the first round?

I would be ecstatic of the Flames could land Domi with the Penguins pick but IMO he gets picked in the top 15. Lazar has been projected in the range of 12 for a long time now.

Link? I haven't seen a list with him in the top 20

I personally wouldn't mind if Feaster nabbed Erie Otters LW Stephen Harper with one of our later picks. From reports, he was firmly on the right wing when he was younger but has gradually sort of drifted over to the left side.

This is off the top of my head but THN has him at 11 and ESPN (scout Grant Sonier) has him at 12 which are in line with the ISS list. I'm sure there's more but I can't do that much research at work at the moment. It's Domi that I have seen all around from just out of the top 10 to bottom 1/3 of the 1st round.

So which team received a compensatory pick in order for our third round to drop from 96th to 97th?

Say there was some dream scenario where we acquired the edmonton pick @ 7
would drafting 6th and 7th change your view on who the flames should select? would nurse or nichuskin suddenly look more attractive or is it still BPA all the way? or do you try to get a D as well?
who would you guys take?
for me it would be Nurse, and Monohan if we had both
where as if we just chose once it would be lindholm.
big physical athletic d and a big bodied shutdown centre would be good insurance that the franchise would turn it around a few years from now.
if it's just 6 you go with the BPA

I'd be tempted to take Londholm and Monahan with 6 and 7... That would be exciting... Then take either Horvat, Domi or Lazar with the STL pick, if one is left... Hopefully the C position wouldn't be an issue moving forward

I already wanted the Flames to pick this kid up. Now a part of me thinks we may need to use the Blues pick to get him. If we can get him with the Pens pick, that would be amazing.

The Hockey News Draft Preview has Lazar at #9.

I think most teams will have the same players in their top 7 or so. But after that I think you'll see big differences of opinion with teams having completely different lists from 8th through the second round.

We see this difference of opinion if you look at a bunch of different scouting lists (Bob Mackenize, Craig Button, ISS, THN, FC, etc).

There is no consensus outside of who the top 5-7 or so prospects should be.

^ I think there will be many surprises after the top 7 or so. It makes the St. Lou/Pitt picks so intriguing! Lazar is an excellent example of a guy who could be gone before St. Lou, but it wouldn't shock me if he was available. Horvat is another guy all over the map, as are Gauthier, Mantha, Rychel, Morrissey, Theodore, etc. etc. They can't be all gone in the 15-18 range!

That's the main reason I'd prefer to hang onto the St.Louis/Pitts picks instead of trying to package them to move into that 10-15 range. I think there are enough quality guys that will still be available at that 25-30 range.
