What do you think tee time intervals could go to playing only in twosomes? Would going to 5 minutes be possible? Do courses go to 9 hole bookings only, pay off of one and 10 in order to get more golfers through?
Hate to bring politics into the golf forum, but these baseless, useless, restrictions involving golf, among other things, are good insight to how hapless this UCP government is.

My course is going to nine minutes, but they basically know the tee sheet will get hammered.

I don’t agree. This just encourages people to lie about their living situation.

Well the other thing about the "it's only a couple weeks" line is that it's most of May (at this point) and the season is short enough. So sure, a few weeks from say 95 years on earth...no big deal, a few weeks from a golf season that is arguably May-September and you're talking about a decent chunk removed for virtually nothing. They're preventing nothing here. What happened to following the science?

Someone needs to explain to me how churches remain open - Which can be 100% virtual - and outdoor activities remain restricted....
Well no one needs to explain -

Same logic that wanted to limit/ban large gatherings but then sent thousands of kids into the same buildings every day for months.
If its for faith or learning, no worries.
If it is to have a sandwich and a pint? Hell no.
Large gatherings are large gatherings regardless of the reason.
It's a complete farce.

My club emailed me saing NAGA had a meeting with AHS today at 2:30. There should be an update and things could change.
Also this article indicates that Kenney is asking Hinhsaw to look into this golfing with family only rule.

So our club went to 6 min tee times and only booking 9 holes a day per player. They scrubbed the tee sheet starting Monday, and just opened booking for next week staring at 7:00. This really sucks for my wife as golf was how we would see her parents.

My course (Nanton) is having a board meeting tonight to decide how to move forward with the new rules. My guess is they'll scrub the tee sheet and have everyone rebook.
The Highwood in High River is doing the following....

This is from Woodside's email I got this evening which is encouraging.
=====================
Today we learned that advocacy efforts underway via NAGA - the National Allied Golf Association are going well and that an update may be forthcoming as early as tonight. In light of this information, we have decided to postpone the ability to book tee-times for May 10th and beyond for another 24 hours.
If we DO NOT have an update before 6:00pm on Saturday, May 8th - then we will open our tee-sheets for twosome and single bookings at that time.
If we DO get good news, we will also open our tee sheets for booking starting at 6:00pm on Saturday, May 8th. Stay tuned for additional updates with respect to the on-going situation surrounding golf in Alberta.

Was playing in the 2nd round of our club championship today. Was 7 holes in and playing a few strokes under my handicap, then I hit my tee shot on the par 3, it's a near miss that flies left gets a favourable kick to stay in bounds, and comes to rest between the tree line and the O.B. marked by a chain link fence.
Instead of taking the unplayable I flip the club around to pick it lefty and close the face to get the ball past the tree line.
Attempt 1...whoosh
Attempt 2...whoosh
Attempt 3...get it, strikes the tree, and goes O.B. 🤦
Dropping 5...hitting 6...chip out with an 8 iron
7th shot misjudge the pitch shot into the bunker
8th shot a great bunker play to a 7ft
9th shot...burn the edge on the putt
Tap in for a 10... That's my first Gary Roberts on a par 3.
What's your worst par 3 story? Ha.

Picked the ball up on the 6th shot, calmly put it in my pocket and drank beer in the cart for the last few holes while my friends kept playing.

This is what my course (Nanton) decided to do with the new restrictions..
Effective Monday May 10th we will be implementing the following procedures.
Golf Course:
Tee times will be allowed for singles or groups of two only.
We will not be pairing golfers up. If you book as a single, you will be golfing as a single.
All tee time bookings must be made by calling the Proshop, as the online booking system has been disabled. This may change as restricted operations normalize
We will follow our regular tee time booking procedure; 10 days advanced booking for members, 7 days advanced booking for non-members.
Golfers are permitted to golf with those within their own household, or if you are single one close contact at a time. It is the responsibility of the player to ensure that this guidance is maintained.
Tee time intervals will be decreased to 6 minutes to allow more golfers the opportunity to play.
All Leagues, Tournaments, and competitions will be postponed until further notice. Those that bought a league membership will be allowed to golf on the day of the week that the league normally runs.
The driving range will remain open, with increased spacing between range mats/stalls.

Has anyone golfed Highwood this year? Wondering what kind of condition it's in as I'm golfing there on Monday.

On my own, it's when I managed to get to the green in regulation, but still took a seven (putt rolled off front into creek, flubbed chip from the drop and three-putted like an #######).
But I'll take that over the bittersweet Hole-in-3 I watched a friend get.
