Observations from being at the game

1) 3hr wait to see Shania Twain and go to the outdoor watch party

2) the mood was very subdued and nervous before the game. Not much chanting to start.

3) I had no issue with any Oiler fans. When they found out I was a Flames fan it was more pity and comments about an oilers Vs the guy that rejected us. Of course I was not there to troll. My son is an Oilers fan.

4) a lot more Florida fans than i expected to see.

5) saw Brady Tkachuk just anhilating a giant popcorn bag.

6) chatted with Elliotte Friedman briefly. Got a photo of him with my son. He was friendly and had lots of time for people.

—> my hope that the Oilers won this game for son but then lose the 4 others can still happen.

Oiler fans left happy and filled with hope. I bet that is crushed the next game. Losing 8-1 is almost better than 2-1 for the Panthers. It’s a reality check and they will come out hard the next one.

Besides, they wouldnt fit in our current line up. Our top 2 lines are solid.

GFG
Why not sign them then for the purpose of trading them to a team outside of the Oilers. Like just a #### you to Edmonton for fun? Would you support that?

Why was there a three hour wait? She was late or there was that long of a line to get in?

Crazy. I can see 30 minutes even, but that is a loooong time. Sounds like fun though (except for the game). But at least your son got to have fun.

If you read sites like Sportsnet and The Athletic you might think it's tied too. According to The Athletic, suddenly McDavid is having "one of the best postseasons ever" even though they had an article after game 3 saying "Edmonton's stars need to show up". Not sure how those two statements match up, but you can see they're desperate for the Oilers to have any positives and will pump their tires at any chance. It's embarrassing to watch.

I dunno...it's a home game during the cup final. If there's a time to do a big celebration for any goal, it's now.

Mcdiver could sneeze and a sportsnet fanboy would write an article praising the timing of the sneeze.
If it was a sneeze, we would get a recovery show, produced, directed, starring, and won by mcdavid. Oh sorry that was also the all star game drill.

At the least, we’d get a graphic showing all variants of sneeze causing, and how “the long sunshine of Edmonton” and Mavi’s generational recovery skills kept him playing despite “the sneeze”.

Also, this isn’t true. We were informed yesterday that Mavi wasn’t involved at all in that.

The Oilers win games when they lure the other team into playing no-defence river hockey, constantly trading chances, etc... Florida unfortunately got sucked into that last night and it cost them. They also weren't prepared to match the Oilers' desperation and it showed. Closing a series out is never easy, even when you've completely dominated the other team up to that point.

I have no doubt that they'll get back to their usual suffocating defensive game on Tuesday and finally finish these clowns off. After having been here last year and not getting the job done, I don't think the Panthers are gonna let this one slip away.

The Athletic has really gone downhill the past few years. Replacing Haley with Julien was just criminal, the guy is a hack.

ARe some of you insane? The series is still 3-1, not tied 3-3! Besides there is NO WAY any of the Panthers would want to make the trip back to Edmonton. It's almost guaranteed win night for Game 5.

Chucky said in the PG that they stopped playing as a 5-man unit. You could see each one of them was out there trying to make hero plays. They (very understandably) were excited and nervous about that a win means the Cup. They were simply not in the right head space yesterday to close it out, and the game got away from them quickly. This happens to many, many teams and that's why we haven't seen a sweep in the SCF in almost 30 years.

Then, after a certain point, it didn't matter anymore. No real difference between 4-1 and 8-1 for what they have to do on Tuesday.

They'll burn the tape and re-watch what made them successful in games 1-3, and will reset their mentality. I don't think they're any more "scared" of the Oilers than they were before the series started, when they knew what they had to do to beat them and executed on that three games in a row. The Oilers didn't "figure anything out" -- the Panthers were almost entirely off their game.

They have three more chances to get it right.

Also, for those talking about "momentum", the Oilers don't have any more momentum right now than they did in game one when they lost 3-0.

It's ok guys, take a deep breath and forget about it for a few days.

The Oilers were the more desperate team. I wouldn't pin any of the goals on him. They were bad defensive mistakes and the first goal had three in a row. We all know the Oilers like to pad their stats when the other team lays an egg rather than just kill the clock.

There's a reason why in almost 30 years nobody has been able to sweep the finals. The trailing team isn't just going to give up.

The amount of Oiler scum celebrating is nasty to see. Even in this thread.

I hope people realize how bad this could get. If the oilers win 4 in a row to win the cup (kill me) it will be heralded by the the ####ty canadian media as the greatest sporting achievement ever. They literally will make some amazon prime documentary about it. Danielle Smith may make a provincial holiday for it. The royal canadian mint will make a loony celebrating it.

This needs to end Tuesday.

If the above were to happen and Vancouver, Dallas and Florida all seemingly quit you could never convince me this whole thing wasnt rigged.

A lot of super negative takes from you tonight. Eat a gummy and chill out.
Such nonsense that 5 on 3. I was actually laughing out loud.
