Carlitos with a very scratchy start to proceedings today, hitting some nice shots but also a ton of unforced errors.

I feel like he'll be back to a high level next season. Whether that means more grand slam titles or simply a top 10 player is yet to be seen.
Recovering from his surgery is a pretty big mountain to climb considering the way he plays and the stress the 1 hander puts on his wrist.

I think Shapo is completely out of this grand slam conversation much like Tsitstipas and Zverev appear to be. They all have incredible talent, but seem to not be able to or are unwilling to adapt to the tactics and discipline required to consistently beat the top 10 players on tour and in big events. If things get tough, you just feel like they aren't going to be able to dig in and find a way out.
FAA can still get there in my books as he continues to grow his game each season and seems to be able to win matches when he's not as his best now. He has also really improved his weaknesses in a short period of time.

Sinner is going to a 5th set with Altmaier
Edit: Sinner just broke and played a whale of a point in doing it.

Shapo needs to wrap this up in four sets as I'm hearing rain is on the way.

I love the US Open. ESPN does tennis really well, arguably their best sport.

Cornet takes out Raducanu. She's been a giant killer all year.
Raducanu falls from 11th to 80th! in the world.

Going back a day, but I thought Leylah played great yesterday. Best she has looked since this tournament last year.

Nadal with a bit of a scratchy start as well, loses the first set before winning the next 3. His next opponent Fabio Fognini, who I still vividly remember came back from 2 sets down to beat Nadal 7 years ago at the US Open. Nadal owes him some payback

Poor Raducanu, I'm sure the British media isn't going to hold back either. She might want to spend a few more days in New York before heading back.

I don't think Raducanu counts as a giant for Cornet to kill. But hopefully we don't have to hear about her anymore until she actually goes on another run, if that ever happens. Man, did they ever rush to overexpose her.
Also, Bianca gets Haddad Maia who won her first round match with a freaking double bagel. She is a straight murderer right now, going to be pretty tough.

Yeah, obviously I'm rooting for Bianca, but it wouldn't be too surprising to see Haddad Maia win tonight, the lady from Brazil is in fantastic form.
