There is nothing to deny the physical dexterity and effort required for the spots they do. The issue isn't that they look easy or bad, the issue is they look stupid in the context they're done and then they're usually completely no sold by the guy receiving them making them look even more dumb. Every match has the guys working like a hulked up Hulkster with the ability to just ignore everything.

It drives me crazy to be honest, it sucks me right out of the match, to the whole, this looks stupid and fake.

I also hate the whole 8 person suplex things that they do in things like rumbles.

I like a bit of realism in my wrestling, its why I loved guys like Vader because they looked like they were actually pummelling someone (and in his case he was). Or Bret's work, he bought a huge amount of realism to his matches.

AEW to me is to much and I hate to use the Cornette term. Indy ####. Blood is cool and all, but things like Blood should be saved for matches that really matter. 8 million flips looks stupid especially if the person can't do a punch or kick to save his life.

It just feels like nobody is trained in Ring Psychology. Every Wrestler gives that and the term story telling, but the newer wrestlers have no idea what it actually means.

Paul Heyman talks about not needing a lot of this get all my cool moves #### in. Not when a good story telling smart wrestler can make a sleeper look like the most devastating move ever.

I still remember in Stampede Wrestling and I loved this. A wrestler would actually be submitted with a sleeper. Yeah I know. And then after the match the Wrestler would have to be worken up or as Ed would scream "Brain damage could occur".

I'll take a Vader vs. Flair or Sting match any day of the week over spot-fests.

It's funny. Sammy Guevara doing a Spanish Fly or 540 splash does not have nearly the same impact to me as a Vader Bomb or a Flair Figure-Four.

Welp.... apparently Pete Dunne debuted on Smackdown tonight as a lackey for Sheamus named Butch. And during the match between New Day and Sheamus/Ridge Holland, Big E took a belly to belly from Ridge and landed on the top of his head. He was stretchered out and in his video from the medical facility, he said he broke his neck.

Absolutely frightening, I thought the worst when his body stiffened up after he landed on his head. Glad to see that he posted that he could move his digits and his strength felt fine.

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall is reportedly on life support at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA, according to PWTorch. He suffered three heart attacks on Saturday night.
The WWE Legend previously fell and broke his hip which led to him being placed in the hospital. Per the report, he underwent hip surgery last week, but he then suffered a serious setback when a blood clot got loose.

Really not looking good for Scott Hall:

Quote:
The family of Scott Hall -- the wrestling legend who was one of the famous founding members of the NWO -- will "discontinue" his life support on Monday ... his good friend Kevin Nash announced.

Nash, who wrestled with Hall in the WCW and helped form the NWO with the 63-year-old in the late 1990s, said doctors will end Hall's life support "once his family is in place" later Monday.

"I'm going to lose the one person on this planet I've spent more of my life with than anyone else," Nash wrote on his social media page late Sunday night.

"My heart is broken and I'm so very f***ing sad. I love Scott with all my heart but now I have to prepare my life without him in the present."

Very sad to read, and all from a surgical blood clot. It sounds like the Bad Guy had really turned his life around, so at least the last few years of his life were probably a lot better. But the guy was an absolute legend in the ring during his early WWE days and right up towards the end of his WCW days.

I'm putting Ready or Not by the Fugees on loop today in honor of the Bad Guy.

His ladder match with Shawn Michaels at Summerslam has influenced modern professional wrestling in so many ways, laying the foundations for some of the talent you see today.

I am going to watch that tonight.

His 1996 debut on Nitro was something else.

I had no idea this thread existing. I was a HUGE fan 1993-2001.

Do you guys listen to the Conrad Thompson podcasts? Something to Wrestle With, Grilling JR, and others?

Scott made such an impact in 1996 with his appearance on Nitro after the Curtain Call. The start of the Monday Night Wars.

Speaking of that era is this more of a Bret crowd or more of a Shawn crowd?
