The best case scenarios are for Pittsburgh, Colorado and the teams above them in the regular season standings to get knocked out in the 1st two rounds of the playoffs

If we trade backlund or Bart. We better be getting a stud dman back.

There are a lot of beefy wingers & defencemen in those first 90 spots... Totally happy for Burke to stick with the 4th overall pick & then further stock the larders with beef for the future.

For sure, Take Bennett/Dal Colle/Draisaitl in the fourth spot, and then with the second rounders I'd draft a defenseman and a RWer since we lack in those positions. Find another defenseman and add a goalie in the third round as well. the 6th and 7th picks are whatever you feel is the best.

The RWer and goalie can also change rounds, especially if Demko is still available with the Avalanche second rounder (assuming we use our 2nd for a defenseman).

I'm not sold on Demko at all. He doesn't seem have that 'clutch performer' tag. There's a Finnish goalie, Ville Husso, that looks more interesting to me.

I think any one of Bennett, Reinhart or Ekblad could be available at 4. If not then I wouldn't be upset if Dal Colle or Draisaitl were picked. Draisaitl seems a bit slow to me – that's my only reservation. He'd be tough to pass on if all of my favourite 3 are gone, though.

Sven for Larsson makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Umm maybe like a Roman Josi from Nashville. Someone in that skill level. It's not secret out blueline needs help. Especially because it looks like we will be picking another forward.

You aren't getting Josi for Backlund or Baertschi.

Maybe bartschi and 35 for John Merrill. But I really doubt NJ gets rid of him.

Why not? He's one of a boatload of young dmen on Nashville. And they don't have any impact forwards.

Because Josi is a 23 year old top pairing d-man, that's why. Backlund is a 25 year old 2nd/3rd line center and Baertschi hasn't proven anything at this point. The value isn't even close.

Trading for Backlund or Baertschi isn't going to fix their lack of impact forwards problem.

Josi is not a top pairing dman. You are overrating him because of the world chanpiobships. On big ice, he is a super star. NHL ice he's nothing more then a second pairing dman at this point.

All I'm saying is that is the type of player, and position, we should be targeting if we trade some of our young skilled forwards.

because Nashville doesn't think about their trades from a Flames first perspective

if they wanted to move a D man for offensive players, and that d man was Josi, they are getting more than those two, he's a top pairing guy

I feel like you think impact means superstar. Impact means a player that is obviously a top six guy that helps you win. Not a superstar. Bart has superstar potential. And backlund is showing he can shutdown the other teams best players, and score goals.

Just to prove my point some are saying we should trade #5 for backlund... Hahahahahahhahs so he's as valuable as a top 5 pick, but not as valuable as roman Josi? Give me a break

Josi averaged over 26 minutes a game this season and had 40 points in 72 games, more points in fewer games then Backlund.

Sorry, if you think he is nothing more then a 2nd pairing d-man then, well, I really don't want to know what you expect out of a top pairing d-man.

Josi is 23 years old, and has gotten better every year so far since joining the league.

He played on average more than 26 minutes a night, had 40 points and was only -2 on a team that was -26

He is a top pairing D man.

Ok well I love Josi that's why i am saying he's the one we should target. Players like that. What about trading Sven for like 9th if Fleury is still on the board?
