I don't get it. The Canadian women are so clutch, but the men choke.
At least it wasn't the US, so Canada still is tied for 1st in golds at the end of the night (hopefully).
Make us proud, Joannie Rochette.

That is true but I think Kyle's was the worst considering the position he put himself in after the 1st jump. The other two had no hope after jump 1.

Really not a very exciting sport to watch, IMO.

I agree. It might be the worst sport in the winter games.. 3 seconds? WTF?
At least make them jump 6 times or something.

Nissen's scored seemed questionable considering the landings the guys were getting on the first jumps and all were getting around 118.
EDIT: Nissen is 11th in the world right now. To even be 5th is a good finish for him.
Omischl is definitely the choker of the bunch. He's only 9th in the world cup standings this year, but has been 1st the past 3 years. He should've been on the podium if not competing for gold.

nah, his landing was bad.
You know a Canadian did bad when the Canadian analyst is depressed about it, saying he'd be lucky to be on the podium.

All the guy needed was a 116 and he had a bronze. Sad.

I would say:
A) the men's competition is always tougher/more competitive, you know there's less room for error so that causes you to be nervous.
B) the elements that men do are harder so there's more chance to fall.

His landing isn't what lost it. It was the bent knees on his 3rd flip, the air is worth 70% and the reason others were getting high even with rough landings is because they nailed the air portion. If he nailed the landing he probably would have got bronze but he went and screwed that up too.

The landings of basically everyone in the 1st run was very similar and they were getting 2.5's and 2.6's.
We could go back and forth on this all night.
At the end of the day, an event like aerials really is one of the worst in the Olympics for the simple fact that it relies 100% of judging when most guys are doing very similar jumps. Put 5 new judges on there and I bet the standings are completely shaken up.

I'm thinking Canadian women are funded much better than women from a lot of the other countries.

That is true.. but it's a dumb subjective sport. A judge may see 4 or 5 good landings in row and the one bad landing at the end looks worse than it is.
Even commentator knew it wasn't enough cause he understands...
