Just don't go across the street. We believe that place might be a literal Crack-Den.
Oh! I mean 'The Ogden Block' right next to 'Mount Ogden.'
Not the Hobby Shop at the old Hotel, that place is awesome!

I am unaware of their sources for their Turkeys.

The funniest part is...the Taco place gets tons of people sent to them by Google maps and they ask:
"Uh...you do taxes here?"
At which point the Taco people tell them where my office really is.
But I've never had anyone come into my office and say: "Do you make Tacos here?"
But I have had a number of people wander into my office still munching on a Taco. Kind of a "well...while I'm here..."
So they've got that going for them. Which is nice. I like to support local businesses.

My understanding is that Alberta bought up a whole bunch of CP Land just south of the confluence /fort calgary.
This Purchase was back when the conservative government of the day was considering high speed rail between calgary and edmonton.

City documents say it's in Shepard, which is a far cry from Highfield.
Maybe finding a new location for the facility is needed to really build the proper core of the line with the money we currently have.

Shepard is where they've planned for the facility from the beginning (look at how nice it looks and how massive it is), but costs have gone up so much that they no longer can reach it.

They are building a small MSF at Highfield and then the extensions will require another one at Shephard. Doing it right, the first time.

Sounds like the Green Line is likely dead.

The UCP was just looking for an excuse to kill the project and now they are doing it to score cheap political points by blaming Nenshi for the cancellation? Wth?

A guy who lives in a place so small they don’t even have a population count gets to decide the fate of a major project that impacts a city 1.5 million times the size? Makes sense.

He went on to say the province is willing to contract with an independent third party to supply the province and city with an alternative costed proposal to integrate the Green Line with the Red and Blue Lines running along downtown 7th Avenue and to a future Grand Central Station in the east end entertainment district, to be anchored by a new events centre.
“And then continue above ground to, at least, the community of Shepard and hopefully beyond using the current budget used in your most recent business case.”

Yup, next up funding announced for airport rail. I just thought the other day there is no way we get a green line north and an airport rail connection, one was going to die. And the green line doesn't make anyone in Banff rich, so...

I ####ing hate this petty ####ing government. The UCP can go #### themselves. They offer nothing of substance and spend all their time bitching about others.
Worst government in Canadian history

To be fair...
This hasn't been a realistic project since day one. The original projected cost for the WHOLE line is less than what the real costs of the stub line that's being presented is today. The homework wasn't done adequately when the first announcement has been made, and then each hurdle the project has come across has come with less, for more money. It's gotten to the point that the province could say "hold up..." and the majority of the public would agree.
But the project isn't going to get any cheaper. So what's the solution here? Just say #### it, and never build the thing? Or bring it more money to build an adequate day one line? Thing is, the city isn't going to be able to raise the funds do that themselves. So the province (and feds) would have to contribute even more than what they have for whatever phase 1 would become - wherever that happens.

At this point, when you factor in what the costs will be for the expansions the tunneled Green Line today has become simply too expensive and too limited. Just to get back to the original 40 km length, you're looking at probably $1.5B to cross the Bow, $3.5B to reach Panorama and $2B to reach Seton, and $400M if you want to add back the Centre Street station. Plus hundreds of millions for another maintenance yard because Highfield will be lucky to handle and store 20 trains.
Even if you could get funding for all of that in a reasonable time frame, is their political support to direct 100% of another generations worth of transit capital funding for one line?
