It was a joke as the conversation was going the way of "well this could be climate change" as if bone chilling cold weather in the Prairies is some sort of climate change issue. Our warm December could perhaps be attributed in some capacity to that.
The issue we have is that virtually every aspect of every weather event these days is being privately and publicly attributed to climate change when in reality, that is not the case. Not everything is climate change.
Leonardo Di Caprio telling tens of millions of people his version of climate change resulted in witnessing a rapid changing of temperatures and melting snow in Southern Alberta. That is a Chinook but plenty of people consider it climate change.
People's homes being built in high risk areas that are then destroyed by mostly natural events or scenarios is not always climate change, sometimes it's just human stupidity.
Climate change exists and humans are probably playing a role in it as well but not every weather scenario is and a lot of times the lines get blurred.
