So I guess Rider fans that have continued to spout off that the Stampeders have had an easy schedule can now shut their yaps. Matters not who you play but if you can't take care of your own business.

Newman's back! Fantastic news. The fan960 keeps saying he's possible trade fodder so they must know something that we don't...if not it's very irresponsible journalism.
Stamps have the best o-line right now. Heck they have the best everything.

So a guy that quit on his team 2 days before training camp, is back at midseason, and people calling him possible trade bait is irresponsible journalism?
I think they are just being realistic.

Newman in the paper today said something along the lines of he wouldnt be suprised if he got traded or released because of how the team is doing right now.

Why release a decent Canadian player when there are teams like the Eskimos and Lions that dearly need help on the OL? Should be able to get an asset in return at the very least if you are going to help a divisional rival.

There's no way they give him up. Make him sit on the practice roster or something, he can play next year when some of the veterans hang them up or he beats them out at camp.
No way they trade him to a divisional rival, and no way they would release him to be picked up by a divisional rival.
The Newman interview is up on TSN in full:

Check the videos on the right. (Corey Mace is there as well)

Sounds to me like he's a slacker as he comes off as a guy that had his fun summer and decided he better get back to work. He wanted out of training camp and felt hanging out with his family & friends was more important than his career. He knew the Stampeders needed help on the OL and he bailed on his team. I wouldn't be surprised if he's hoping to get released so he can sign in BC as he has to know that with Tsoumpas back and the surprisingly good play of Comisky has that there isn't really any room for him. I hope they unload his lazy ass to the Lions for the 1st overall pick in next years draft.

BC or Edmonton would snatch him up in a heartbeat.

Rick Foley has been cut by Seattle. He is currently a FA but my head tells me he lands in BC as he loves playing on the West Coast and knows the system.

Players can be picked up by another team if they're on the practice roster?

Yes, but I think the original team has the option of putting them on the active roster or letting them goto the new team. In order to put them on the active roster they have to take a guy off the active roster and put him on the PR.

Nice situation for the Stamps if they can get a bidding-war going between three teams. Not really many positions the Stamps need right now; halfback is just about the only spot where I'd like to see an upgrade, and even it is decent. Draft picks would be the ideal return.

I personally wouldnt want the guy back. If the Stamps were 1-6 would he singing the same tune? Canadian draft picks is what I would want, cant accumulate enough draft picks.
