OK, CP, decision time. I've had a Blackberry 8703e for I think about 5 years ago, works great, but the roller wheel is starting to work funny so it's time for an upgrade.
I'm on an iPhone 4 waitlist, but am reconsidering leaving Blackberry because I love BBM.
I do a fair bit of browsing on my phone, but would probably do a lot more if more sites loaded properly on my phone. I use Twitter and Facebook a lot.
If I stick with a BB, which model should I get and how will it compare to iP4 as far as web browsing, social networking, camera, GPS, etc.

I have only had this blackberry for 2 weeks (I am trading for an iPhone in like an hour), but the web-browsing on an iPhone is way better IMO of course. I hate browsing the web on the blackberry (I got a Curve).
Having never used a browser from a phone, it was nice, but I just like the iPhone browsing easier and more efficient.
Also, the GPS is better on an iPhone (IMO again). Camera is better on iPhone too, that is a fact (I think, haha).
Then again, I really like the iPhone, but the blackberry destroys it when it comes to battery life. iPhone battery is as efficient as McBackup in a Flames uniform.

If you want good web browsing, any OS 6 compatible phones will do fine for that. I believe the Bold 9700/9650 and Curve 3G can use 6? The Torch for sure will be your best web browsing experience on a blackberry. It uses OS 6 and the touch screen allows the same zooming and panning the iPhone has.

I don't suppose anyone has any links to some half decent free themes do they? I've got a 9700 Bold but I can't seem to find any decent Flames or Blue Jays themes. Hell, any cool theme would be sweet!

I am hooked on Onxyia for my BB.
There are 12 icons, plus spots for Weather, Network Connections and Profile on the top
The theme for my Bold cost me 99cents (for version 4.5) I am pretty sure version 2.1 is still free.
edit:
seems like version 2.1 is available for free. When i tried it there was a little bit of lag with OS 4.6
Version 4.5 that fixes a most of the lag with OS5.0
there are also a ton of themes available here for the bold 9700, many of which are free or very cheap (< $1)

Ah gotcha. Well from my limited understanding (a few google results) it looks like they're releasing it Friday because Rogers is as well.

Check out my blog in my signature. I have created quite a few free ones there. The rest are $1.99. Lots to choose from free though. Also, check out the theme section over at CrackBerry. Tons of authors creating themes over there. Many of them free.
I haven't created a Flames one as of yet, but maybe I should give that a try soon...

I'm still using a theme I DL'd in January for free called Section8
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-the...uary-18th-2010
It's free and it allows you to have 11 applications accessible on your homescreen while still being able to see your wallpaper. Also, most of the settings on the phone are accessible on the mainscreen by clicking on thngs like the time, the network status indicator, the charge level, etc.
It's professional looking and works great if you don't like having to go into the big slew of icons you get when you press the BB button.

Any idea?

So is the Bold 9650 coming to Canada? It seems like the stats are much better overall and I didn't see it on Rogers' website.

I just spoke to our rep at Telus, and he claims RIM has a big patch for OS6 coming out within the next 10 days or so. All Canadian carriers have decided to delay by 2 weeks or so to incorporate the latest version of the OS.
Take it for what's it's worth though.

Quick questions everyone: How much data do you use on average each month?
I'm looking to make the jump to a BlackBerry and am considering a plan that includes 500 mb, but I have no idea if this is enough. Realistically I'd be using it for Facebook / email / CalgaryPuck.

I use well under 100MB, but my usage is probably a little lower than yours might be.

500mb is more then enough for a BB, unless you tether.

I've been using data more the more I get used to the phone and realize just how much I have.
That said I've never gone over 100MB
Data is primarily used for Facebook, The Score Mobile, BBM, and searching the odd thing. Once in a blue moon if I don't have my GPS with me I'll use the Google Maps and GPS feature on it. Otherwise not.
On average I used about 50MB per month, however that's steadily increased so it's not a fair gauge. Last month I used 87MB, so still nothing close to the 500MB I'm allotted.
(Also of note I use the wifi whenever possible, so when I'm at home, visiting my parents, etc, when I use my blackberry I'm not using data)
