Would love to see what happens when Hammond and May pack up and take of with Jeremy to wherever they head to next.
They make Top Gear for sure but they were eventually going to be phased out due to age and I suppose now is a better time than any to bring in younger talent.
Jut sucks we lost the rest of this season. I only have 4 or 5 shows I follow closely a season so this sucks a lot for me. /sadface
Despite them being a package, Clarkson sort of is a first among equals.
The re-launch was his idea and it's his charisma and character that drives the show. If you read his articles, his books, or his non-Top Gear videos, you can see it all comes through much the same.
Clarkson has done various independent motoring segments in the past, without Hammond and May and sometimes including other ex-Top Gear presenters (Tiff Needle) and it feels the same as Top Gear. The guy is Top Gear and even if he splits for Sky or ITV or Netflix and make "Not Gear", it will be the same show.
I am just really curious what the remaining already filmed segments of Top Gear and the finale were. We may never see those hit the light of day.
While true, I'd bet that if he hadnt been on his 'last warning' its unlikely he gets fired.
I tend to disagree as I'm in the UK right now and the information about the incident is really very damning, the poor ####### that got hit basically did nothing, Clarkson spent an half an hour shouting insults at him then just hauled off and punched him, it wasn't a fight or a mutually escalating thing, Clarkson was just being an utter ####, there's no redeeming circumstances what so ever, in fact the behaviour is so extreme I'm wondering if there was any Columbian marching powder involved, it is fairly popular over here and would explain the erratic response

BBC confirms what has been reported elsewhere. Interesting as part of the investigation is that Tymon, the producer, did not report the incident. Clarkson did so himself to his bosses and that is when Hall opened the investigation.
That the victim did not report the incident is immaterial. Victims of bullying often do not report being bullied.
Clarkson physically and verbally assaulted a colleague. The BBC had no choice but to take the action they did. If they did not sack Clarkson, then they would be open to being sued every time they tried to discipline staff because they would not be consistently and fairly implementing HR policy.
This may well be the demise of Top Gear, but anyone blaming the BBC is way off mark. There is only one person to blame for this and it is the bullying, boorish thug that carried out the assault.

Is he a dick about a lot of issues? Yea and he deserved to be fired for sure for the assault. Is BBC losing it's biggest show, yep. I not sure he's a bully that much. He was drunk at the time and apparently realized his mistake when he sobered up. He immediately texted, called and apologized in person to the producer before reporting the incident to BBC management himself.
Sounds more like a person with some major anger management issues rather than a bully/thug who enjoys the problems they cause.
The BBC sells craploads of programmes all over the world. This will be a big blow for them for sure, but the BBC is extremely successful in selling a lot of product abroad.
Can't blame BBC but they just lost one of the only things besides the news that made them relevant outside of the UK.
I do understand there is quite a massive following of Downton Abbey abroad too. And Sherlock, and Dr.Who. Maybe these show which I have never seen are not as popular as Top Gear world wide but they'll get by just fine I think.
EDIT: Coronation Street too am I right? Anyone? Coronation Street? Quality programme.....

Not having Clarkson or the chemistry of him with Hammond and May will doom any attempt by the BBC to relaunch "Top Gear". Just look at Top Gear USA / Australia as proof of that. Or Fifth Gear. Boring car shows that visually try and match TG with equally as "cool" features, but it all fails.
Interestingly, having watched all his "DVDs" - 100% Clarkson is not tolerable either. His schtick gets tiresome without being balanced out by May / Hammond.
Yeah, I just don't get the sympathy for a guy who was by all accounts behaving like a major league #######. But then again we live in a world where people will forgive the likes of Polanski, Tyson, Allen, Jackson, Cosby, etc., so long as they like their work enough.
And no I'm not comparing what Clarkson did to what those guys did.
