Pacific has been the western conference representative the last 2 seasons. Pacific is weaker at the bottom but the top 6 teams (Kings, Knights, Oilers ; Avs, Stars, Jets) aren't all that different.

Kings: 6-3 against the top 3 central teams

Combined 14-13 record...it's not nearly as big a gap as you're making it out to be.

55.9% xGF in the regular season match ups, 53.0% in the playoffs.

Oilers are 3-1-2 against the Jets the last two seasons with a 60.0% xGF...so that's potentially an even worse match up.

Playoffs:

The Jets were 2-1 against the Oilers this year but you might as well throw out that last game.

The Jets had already clinched the President's trophy the day before and started resting players and were playing Comrie.

Jets need hellebuyck to get hot and play like they did tonight and maybe they give the oilers problems. They can be rough and nasty- you have to outdo Kane and Perry in that department. On paper that might not happen but look at what the pigs have done against the kings and knights, who were better on paper.

If Dallas wants to beat the oilers they need Oettinger to retain form and Robertson, hintz need to wake up and rantanen can’t cool off. Scoring talent won’t beat the oilers. Need to out-goalie them and out-grit them. And d-bag benn needs to match the d-baggery of the Kanes and Perrys. And that bischell giant needs to erase Kane.

As I wrote that I’m realizing Canes/Fla might be better options lol.

Still think there is a better chance with Florida if Bobrovsky continues getting hotter.

I've already been trying to find a flames tkachuk t-shirt to wear around. Mainly because there is too much oilers gear around calgary, and also because tkachuk lives rent-free in their heads. Oilers support in Calgary has to be stopped.
