Mike Ross from the Panthers just said that this contract is spicy and that Weegar will regress! It is hilarious what Panther press and fans have to do to make themselves feel better about the trade that fleeced them.

I hear Treliving typed Huberdeau's contract with his right hand and wrote Weegar's with his left.

He is a known multitasker. He dictated Sutter's extension over speaker phone at the same time. Stone's contract - he just had a standard "Stone Contract" premade.

Well Huberdeau's contract just had the last name scratched out and initialed.

Top 5 most disruptive d-men in the NHL (Zone entry denials, puck battle wins, blocked passes, stick checks):
1. Jaccob Slavin
2. Brent Burns
3. Mackenzie Weegar
4. Miro Heiskanen

He was great under Quinnville, and really took big steps.
And now he gets coached by Sutter, who is another d-man whisperer.

I thought it was weird too, then I figured out this idiot must only be counting disruptions when the other team has the puck! Classic anti-oilers bias. We all know that if he included both teams Nurse would be the frontrunner.

Just had to comment on this because I agree with the analysis and assessment of Weegar's strengths, but I wanted to highlight something.
In those clips you see Weegar reading plays and being aggressive, which is good...most of the time. He will tilt the ice in your favor a lot, but when he misses on one of those aggressive plays, it leads to a high danger chance against. This is my only criticism of him is that he will give up a huge chance to the opposition now and then.
Just don't be surprised if that happens.

But if he’s partnered with Tanev and not Ekblad, there’s coverage.

He still doesn't pass the eye test. He better up it for the 2nd half.
