From the Athletic (paywall) -- 11 NHL Execs and coaches all picking the Flames to win the series: https://theathletic.com/3316468/2022...ampaign=601983
Some citing Draisaitl's injury as a factor, but almost everyone gives the Flames an edge in goal, on the blueline, and forward depth. Coaching as well. Nothing surprising given what we've seen so far in the playoffs..

Best of luck to you and your team. This is going to be such a fun series and I hope you and everyone else enjoys the ride. So nice to have the rivalry renewed.

Using a kind of reverse superstition approach, I predicted the Stars would win in 7, hoping for the opposite outcome. Using the same lack of logic, I picked the Oilers in 6.

Who is upset?
It is just typical oilers.

so good to see Tanev on the ice.
Do we know what is going on with him or how severe this is?

The Flames are filled with greasy goons who will try to get our skilled players to retaliate but hopefully the Oilers have learned to leave the Flames to turtle in the corner and stay out of the box. We don't need Kane sitting for five with Lucic because that's 5 minutes Lucic is unavailable to make horrible passes and turnovers. Oilers in 6 because the Flames will squeak some goals through our leaky goaltending. If we swapped the goalies it'd be a sweep.

Lets be honest. Oilers in game 6 were 6 minutes away from the same scenario against an LA team that had two of their best players out, and a young team that has way less experience than the Stars team. All that against an aging goalie in Quick who had good and bad games, while Flames faced a young goalie that had a historic series.

The Oiler/King series was firewagon, and in the end the Kings didn't have the players to out shoot the average.
The Oilers have those guns, and generally out shoot the average.
But now they're playing the Flames, with some finish as well plus a boatload of shot volume for Smith to contend with. That will be the key to the series in my mind.
First round and what the teams gave up ... (5 on 5)
Scoring chances/60
Cgy 21.7 (2nd)
Dal 34.9 (13)
Edm 35.7 (14)
LA 36.8 (16)
High Danger/60
Cgy 8.3 (5th)
Edm 13.5 (13)
Dal 15.1 (14)
LA 17.0 (15)
Kings gave up a pile ... or the Oilers generated a lot, depending on how you look at it.
Edmonton in the regular season only generated 11.9 per game five on five, vs 17.0 against LA.
In the regular season Calgary held the Oilers to 9.8/60 in the games between the two teams.

Flames PP
- generated 9 HD chances in 26 min of 5 on 4 time (20.7/60)
- 11.8 per 60 in the regular season against all teams (11th)

Can't both be true?

Random thought -- is the ice at the Saddledome going to be a factor?
In Game 1, the third period was delayed because apparently the building was too hot and the ice had to be reflooded.
In Game 7, the same thing happened between the second and third period, and again between the third period and overtime (it was funny because the Zambonis were literally still on the ice when Beesley yelled "ARE YOU READY" and the players were not given the heads up that the ice wasn't ready yet, and the Zamboni driver threw up her arms because clearly they weren't done yet).
I didn't see it affecting game play at all, but something to maybe keep in mind as this series and the playoffs progress.

So what? Did that somehow change the fact Oilers were tied late into game 6 and were minutes away from OT where one goal would have eliminated them? Lol, how is your comment even relevant to defending your position?
