Really it's the same set up as the Bruins jersey (for the home the striping pattern of Yellow-White-Yellow is identical).
Sort of. I feel like I’ve brought it up before but it’s not technically what you’ve said. It’s yellow - thin red - white - thin red - yellow. To my eye (which may need a check), it makes it look busy. I’d have got rid of the thin red and made the yellow about half its width. Those would look cleaner. Just my thought.

I agree the red retro could benefit from a little fine tuning. The whites are just beautiful.

Since this is a jersey thread and we are talking about Ken King. When I was in Prince George this august I was checking Kijiji and found a add for a signed 2001-02 flames jersey for $100. I picked it up and the gentleman said it was a gift from Ken King himself. What a score.

Thanks. Didn’t realize that until you pointed it out but it could be the colour black which makes the bruins one pop but the thin red on the flames doesn’t do it for me.

The Flames jerseys haven't had piping on them since they were branded Reebok. When the branding moved to Adidas they also removed the piping. I guess it was so offensive that you didn't even notice when it was gone.

Just adding an anti-vote on Blasty.

They were ugly, too black and horses and fire is a bad karmic mix. Never liked them

Those are the worst jerseys the Flames ever wore. I'm guessing you grew up watching the Flames when they were wearing those jerseys, because nostalgia is the only explanation on why people would like it.

Sorry meant vertical striping, not the piping. Both horrible design choices and the previous piping removal was polishing a turd.

Based on the accounts of King’s strength I envision him bent over, tapping the shoulders of an incapacitated corpse after the chest blow.

Legend has it that King’s handshake was so strong that when he crushed your hand bones into 100 pieces that a smaller hand would pop out of your shoulder waving a white flag. That’s why we got flag patches on the shoulders.

Yeah and I keep seeing their marketing director popping up in the replies of Flames uniform Twitter threads. I think they have a much better feel on the pulse of what Flames fans want in that regard than perhaps the previous regime did.

I'd honestly be shocked if Blasty doesn't return in some form or another..and thats coming from someone who doesn't even really want it (the rest of the uniform is cool, I've just never dug ol' Horse Snot outside of a shoulder patch).

okay, random observation here...

We had some Ronald MacDonald posts in this thread today, and now I am getting MacDonald's ads across the header... coincidence? I very much doubt it.

(Now can we please get back to the random porn sites that keep advertising there for some reason?)

He apparently even once overruled Bettman himself on a phone call about them. Gary called to say, "you can't do this." King responded with, "we're doing this." And they did it.
Bettman respect level skyrocketing. At least he tried to save us from ourselves.

I quite like the Blasty logo, but I wasn't a huge fan of the actual jersey design. If they redesigned the jersey with Blasty on it, I could potentially get behind that concept if the jersey was done well.

Neither here nor there, but as I've mentioned before, the original Flames plan was to have the Alberta Coat of Arms and a Maple leaf, not the entire flags.

Issue was the official government Flag rules, which basically said you can't use parts of the flags, you have to use the whole flag.

Harley Hotchkiss was also the big proponent of having the flags.

My guess is you see them Remembrance Day, if they use them just once.

So would now be a good time to offload my 02-03 Team signed jersey, while everyone’s feeling nostalgic? Or should we keep that year out of our memory?

Nicest jersey in the league.

And I like the flags.
