The Flames are in a playoff spot despite one of the hardest schedules, major team turmoil, and most of the roster having bad starts. The Yotes were two points better and made the deal. Winning/losing is a fine line in the NHL these days...last year showed us that.

Why does Hall look like someone wearing a very realistic Hall mask?

Based on winning percentage they actually aren’t in a playoff spot, so they are currently the very definition of a bubble team.

Because NJ actually sent one of their worst forwards in disguise.

He's in the Devils lineup since the trade, will see if he does anything.

Not yet...and thankfully we haven't bet the farm too badly on a mirage [yet].
Fun fact: In any time frame since the Senators have been in existence, they have never won fewer cumulative playoff series than the Flames. ie. You could count any number of years back from present, and Sens would always >/= Flames PO series wins. Or, starting from the year of their expansion moving forward, the result would be the same.

Despite a million things working against them thus far...does anyone really think the Flames aren't 1-3 in the Pacific? wanna bet?
Oilers are going to outplay them the rest of the year despite a harder schedule? Oilers and Flames are basically tied despite the Oilers having everything go their way all season long. SJ miraculous comeback?
Phoenix, Vegas, Calgary, are 1-3 in the Pacific in no particular order IMO

Haha welllll if you recall my predictions at the start of the year... I’m feeling like I’m not so far off at this juncture. We shall see. But, I’m just saying you are a terrific fan because you’re always so quick to defend everything Flames... way better than I am honestly but it makes it tough to read your posts without this enormous bias. That seems to colour your perspective like rose coloured glasses I guess. I don’t even mean this as demeaning or insulting it’s what fans should probably be but I’m just saying- there are other teams with great qualities too.
So I think Arizona is a better team than Calgary today? Yes, for sure they are. I also think they have better upside. Just because Arizona has been bad for a long time doesn’t mean they will forever. I think the one team I overshot on my prediction at the beginning of the year was the Canucks, they haven’t been as good as I thought they’d be. But Calgary’s middle of the road okayish play? Yeah, I think I pretty much nailed that actually.

You are always negative...You are the anti-homer how can we take you seriously.
Calgary is 8-2-1 in their last 11 games. Brag about your awesome predictions at the end of the season not in December.
For sure Arizona is better than Calgary? based on what? a few points in the standings while the Flames top players had ridiculously terrible stars

I think it’s fair to call me overly negative. I can be pretty pessimistic that’s true. But, we haven’t had a lot to really celebrate over 30 years.
Anyway, I think Arizona’s top top end talent is worse than Calgary, like Gaudreau and Giordano are better than anything Arizona has, but depth they are better. Then guys like Hayton, Hinostroza, Schmaltz, Chycrun, Keller, Dvorak, Hall, Soderberg, Stepan, Kessel, Ekman-Larsson... like they have more “good” players than we do. It’s honestly a good roster.
But hey- I was very positive in Gaudreau. Guy is just an absolute all-star player and probably the best Flame we have seen since Iginla. He is criminally underrated in this city IMO.

The Pacific appears to be the worst overall division in hockey. 5/8 teams with negative goal diff, no real scary teams...just a whole lot of "meh" from top to bottom.
DET and OTT really weigh down the Atlantic, but BOS is as good as it gets, and TBL could/should become scarier than anyone in the Pacific.
Winning the Pacific right now is like winning a beauty contest in Edmonton; it doesn't mean you're not attractive, but you're not going to last very long when you start competing against girls who have all of their teeth.

One day when they played the Flames. Who played OK, but not their best. I think the Avs are a much better team than the Yotes. I think the Yotes are having a year like Calgary’s last year, when things go so right for the first half. Player for player, the Flames are better IMO.
