Tkachuk has steadily improved every year in the league. He had 48pts as a rookie, was on pace for 60 in his second year before injury ended his season and then went to 77pts in his third year. Beyond numbers he has played tough defensive minutes since he was a rookie and has shown his leadership ability by wearing a letter. So I think it is fair to give Tkachuk a long term big money deal.
I don’t care to try and take the bait that I am replying to

A bridge deal would definitely help the Flames, help them contend and with their cap. Could be argued that the Flames could offer more money in 3 years as well.
Whatever happened to the bridge deal for RFA's? Bring it back Tre!

They are just not likely for proven superstar young players. Kucherov is the last one I can think of. The Leafs giving Matthews his cake while he can eat it too with a short term max dollar contract that screws with things.
Tkachuk is a proven commodity so it makes sense to go long term for both sides. Bennett is coming off a bridge and likely is heading for another one because he has not lived up to the hype but is still a valuable player.

GOAT!

I fully expect a 10-year bridge deal at pretty close to $900K per season.

It’s been reported that Tkachuk would prefer a contract that takes him to UFA.
It sets him up for a monster 3rd contract when he’s young enough to demand the moon.
The risk to Calgary if they don’t give him a 4 year contract ( it would realistically have to be 5) is that Tkachuk simply goes year to year and then leaves.
There is no real reason for Calgary to give him financial security without Tkachuk giving up at least one UFA year.

With both Matthews and aho now getting 5 year deals coming out of their ELC's, I think it will become the norm for all high end RFA's.
Sign a 7, 8, or 9 million dollar 5 year deal, get to UFA for a huge 3rd deal that will put more money in your jeans because you are entering/in prime years. If during that 5 year deal you suffer a catastrophic injury, you are still set for life from your second deal.

Although it’s always easy to predict to absolute hands down best outcome for the player.

Treliving loves his 6 year deal 4 of the 5 long term RFA deals he signed out of elc were that long (Lindholm off a bridge but his first deal with the flames) I think it will be somewhere in the 7.75-8.75 range over 6 years.
