Nylander can play C and I thought he looked pretty good when given the chance last season. But if the Leafs get JT then I think Nylander doesn`t play C because C will be so stacked they meed.more.help.on RW.

Next summernif they need to.make trades it will be.Marleau first to go.

Nobody is taking that Marleau contract off the Leaf's hands without a huge add. Marleau also has a full NMC.

Yeah...no. Marleau will be 40 years old at the beginning of next season plus he has a full NMC. He will not be going anywhere.

So are the Leafs considered front runners now? I thought it was the Sharks although haven't been following closely.

Well if he hasn't signed with the Isles by midnight then he's not signing with the Isles.

If Marleau puts up 27g and 47p again next season, I'd gladly take him on the Flames for the last year of his deal if we have the cap space.

If we would have had him on the Flames last season he just may have saved our season. The guy would have been the perfect vet to have in our bottom 6 with Janko/Bennett and would have given us a 3rd scoring line.

I have no idea if Marleau would be willing to waive his NTC but if he puts up similar numbers as this year (27 goals, 20assists) and if he is on a line with say Tavares and Marner I think he could easily, there will be teams willingnto take him for one year.

He is old but is still veey fast and in great shape and good defensively.

His contract is insanely front loaded. In jis finals season after Leafs pay out 3 mill signing bonus his actual paid out money is only 1.25 million. So a team could trade for him get a 6.5 cap hit but oy have to pay 1.25 in actual.money. LOL if you think a team like Ottawa wouldnt like to have a player like that 50 points for one year at 1 million.

There was always speculation aboutnthe final year of the contract. The way it is designed it seems like there is an agreement a trade would happen but Marleau gets full control over where he goes. Thats all specualtion thouh.

He has a full NMC though hes not going anywhere. This is his last kick at a cup too. Hes gonna want to stay put ESPECIALLY if they sign JT.

I'm going to assume the Islanders are the frontrunners until he signs elsewhere.

According to Dean Blundell out of Toronto Tavares is going to Toronto. He is a former Sportsnet radio guy.

take it with a grain of salt I say but he did break Babcock.

I dunno. I guess probably still, but if he was going to re-sign, why wait for Jul1? We're well past Stamkos territory here.

Think islanders are out. In 3 hours islanders lose the 8th year option. I think Lou screwed up by not trading some picks at draft to help the team now. It was right after the draft that Tavares informed them that he would talk to other teams. In my opinion he really needed to leave the draft with a #1 goalie.

Dean Blundell is scum. He did Sportsnet? I just know him from being the arrogant jock shock DJ on the Edge radio station. I doubt he knows anything.

I went from not caring to checking my phone every 5 minutes. Damn you Tavares!

If he doesnt sign with the Leafs it will be hilarious and just such a Leafy thing to happen.

Yeah just keep him (and all big free agents or trades) out of the west, specifically the Pacific. Could end up with Tavares, JVR, Karlsson etc all in our division. F that.
