What a great win. Love the confidence in Smith. After the 2nd period he was giving it to Perry.

She was probably worried Bieksa was going to take it if she let go.

Nice! We saw that at the end of warmup, we were at the goalie end. My daughter was envious but she got a puck at a previous game .
Smith definitely held the fort tonight and I am loving his emotion and aggression in net. He is not going to be pushed around which is nice to see and should be an example for the rest of the team.
Everyone gave a solid effort tonight and I hope to see this for the rest of the season. If so I think we will go far in the post season.
The best sight these eyes have seen in a while

Tkachuk is such a perfect player to sum up Calgary

Kind of an ignorant comment, considering the many years we spent bemoaning our lack of pest.

Just finished watching the game. Flames played great -- all 4 lines and all 3 pairings. Smith was incredible in the last 10 minutes. Hamonic looks great beside Brodie. I hate the Ducks almost as much as the Oilers.
Bravo Flames, Bravo.

Curse is finally gone. You can tell that it meant a lot to those Dirty Ducks as well.
Such an unlikeable team they are. It is funny how their fan base dislikes the Flames. Tkachuk is working his way slowly up the 'pest' ladder, but I doubt he ever surpasses the likes of Kesler, Bieksa and Perry. If there was ever an 'unlikeable' player award, those three would be the three finalists every year. Do the Ducks' fans not watch their own team or something? I guess not judging by all those empty seats.
This team is loaded with depth this year. Still have Jagr and Jankowski waiting, along with a few other prospects that should get some good looks this year. Loaded on defensive prospects, loaded in net...
Injuries are going to happen, so boy is it nice to have this extra couple layers of depth this season.
Smith has been a revelation this season. He is lights-out good. It takes a damn good opportunity to get the puck by him. I have to admit, I am still wincing at the first couple of shots every game, until I remember Smith is in net. It feels so comforting knowing he is back there.

Watched it late. Such a good feeling. Felt the need to post this classic.
What's great is we can still be a lot better. There was excellent effort, but there's obviously room for improvement for team chemistry.
Btw, Bartkowski had a good game. By the latter half of the game I wasn't even nervous to see him there Obviously they're the 3rd pairing and it shows, but still.

Glad they broke the curse and won on the Duck Pond. Just wish they could have done this back in April in the playoffs. Losing by 1 goal in both games in that rink still ticks me off.

Disagree, every time the Flames were pinned in their zone, 44 was out there losing his man, giving the puck away etc. Words can't describe how awful he's been. Smith has just saved his bacon. A shutout just masks the awful 4th line and 44.

So Brandon Hickey was the sacrifice required to end this curse. Glad Tre figured it out. The Mike Smith trade will always be a success to me now.
