Gaudreau benefitted from Hartley's system. Which is okay. The coach has to acknowledge that our best offensive player could benefit from opening things up instead of expecting our best players to play like 4th line grinders.

There has to be a middle ground between Gulutzan's grind system and Hartley's skill system. Good teams are versatile. We are not.

Meh...im a little disapointed, but no need to get upset. This is a well built team. Bennett looks good. Smith looks good. Once the team starts to go, its going to be a fun fun fun year

I'm no Gulutzan fan, but no, that doesn't prove that. Maybe if they're still playing this way in November, but in game 2?

As a unit, the Flames look like this is a game in mid-December. Though the errors are, I think, making things look worse than they really are.
Just watching the Flames come out of their "tunnel" as they were being introduced....most of them simply walked out, not much hustle or energy. Very puzzling.

Coaches gotta coach. Not sure these guys are getting it done.

I think I will take the words of the coach and the players over the guy who blows hot air all the time.

There are 40 minutes left. Lots of time to get this corrected.

Even if they lose, it's a long season and these are both good teams. Heck I don't even fault Smith for the goals, those were scorchers from in close.

In Vancouver, Cam Talbot get yanked after only 3 goals (on 7 shots).

How many times have Flames been thrown out of the faceoff circle this game? Seems like almost every time.

I think Gulutzan is a decent coach, but his decision making is baffling sometimes. Brouwer should be getting zero powerplay time.
