If the earthworks isn't done, then it wasn't finished...

No, north side was suppose to have a second art installation of mounds of grass lol.

Ah, gotcha. I never read the details back then...

The second part which is yet to be installed is drumlins, oval shaped mounds of earth that are left behind when glaciers recede. However, these ones will be man made and located on the opposite side of the highway from the Towers, which drivers will pass by as they leave the city.

The two artists collaborated but Del Geist did the Bowfort Towers which was similar to his other art pieces:
http://delgeist.com/sculpture.html

While the north side was supposed to have the hummocks designed by Leighton:
https://patricialeighton.com/environmentalart.html

Maybe to more artistically knowledgeable people you could draw the connection that these artists envisioned but to most of us it would be two different exhibits. Well actually to most of us it would be construction scrap and grass

It could easily have been turned into a luxury subdivision with a number of high value mansions in inner city, but the city chose to develop a more accessible inner city community which I think is a commendable route.
ummm like how wasn't i kidding? They could build a 3,000 sq ft 3 story penthouse condo for$500k and I wouldn't want to live there.

Nothing like the non stop vehicle hum emitting from Deerfoot.

Bowfort towers are objectively bad art.

Examples of cool city art, randomly from Google:

Is it really going to be any worse than the rest of Renfrew? Is that a complaint of the residents there?

I don't think they're great, but I think this location makes them worse. They'd work fine in the middle of a park as a curio.

I have seen the concept plan prior to the City making revisions accommodating some of the feedback received. It is still a pipe dream, I think, due to mostly mid-rise and high-rise build-forms being proposed. The concept was to create another Bridges-like community. But this is not a Bridgeland-like location. On the one hand, the high-density model is needed to justify the high costs of land and new infrastructure. On the other, it would take a couple of decades to absorb all those thousands of condo apartments. Almost like another East Village. The end result should be great, but the costs and time of getting there are both enormous.

You do you, but the most sought after land there would be approximately 900 metres from Deerfoot and overlooking the pathway and two golfcourses. There's 16th avenue and the train track much closer that I doubt Deerfoot matters at all.

A similar property on the slope and just separated by the dog park, about 1.2 km from Deerfoot, sold for $750,000, had its old house demolished and new house constructed with an assessed value of $2.5M and an honest door assessment of $3M.

Drumlins!!!

Which are what you see when you drive through the Morley flats area on the TCH just before the K Country turnoff.

Ironically they are also doing a giant ring in Montreal which seems to be going over equally as well as here.

Come on now! Just think how much easier travel between Calgary and Montreal will be now that they've completed the other half of the portal.

At least that ring is in an interesting place, rather than the middle of nowhere. The big blue ring will never have any development near it, and this new one is right in the thick of it.

There are thousands of homes with much worse exposure to Deerfoot, Stoney, Glenmore, Crowchild, etc. in this city. It's not a big deal.

Figured you were kidding, but you wouldn't buy a 500k 3000 sq ft penthouse at this location? Hell I'd shift like 200m towards Deerfoot along that proposed road.

I would buy it and rent the crap out of it. Well I would buy any 3000sq ft unit for $500k, even in Edmonton!

Would never live there though. LOL at anyone buying anything on deerfoot for $2.5-$3.0mil....

How is that even close to Deerfoot? Are they building on the east side of Nose Creek?
