With Connor Brown just signing 2.1M x 3 maybe Bennett will come in cheaper than expected. Hard to argue that he's worth much more than Brown at this point.

For me the big question is what does Sam's camp legitimately think they can get.
This is a 2 or 3 year deal for sure. And cap hit is going to be 2.5-3.5. So, is there some win-lose situation that could unfold? Not likely.
I'm concerned somewhat though. I'm thinking of the hot mess that was ROR in Colorado. Sure the team can force things but longer term, I think we all love this guy and want him here. Motivated and part of a kick ass core.
At least with Gaudreau there was some conversation that let us know what the hold up was. Johnny wanted more money while with Sam there is nothing being said by either side or even a decent reporter trying to give some inside news.

Wake me up when September ends.
My thoughts the same..all signs point to that wheelhouse.
The only thing i can think of is Flames want 3 years and Bennetts camp is sticking to 2 and they arent budging. Who knows though.
It will get done. There is far greater risk to Bennett for being a holdout, than there is to the Flames for having him as a holdout. Treliving knows this and so does Bennett and his agent. It will get done before camp - IMHO.

Hope this does not turn into Johhny 2.0 with the contract negotiations. Missing training camp would suck.
When Johnny was negotiating his deal, he was coming off a 78 point season AND a World Cup where he was arguably the most dangerous player on a team that had McDavid, Matthews and Eichel.
Sam Bennett could conceivably lose his centre spot to Mark Jankowski.

I've been through too many of these over the years to get my gitch in a knot, it will get done.
My GUT says the Jagr rumours have come from the fact that the two sides (Bennett/Flames) are getting their goal posts tighter on an option or two, to the point where Treliving has a better idea of how much cap space he has left.
It's prudent to go slow from both sides and wait each other out, but Treliving's history certainly dictates he won't blink.

Is that supposed to say "guy", or is that a typo that was supposed to read "gut".
Those 2 keys are right next to each other, and will greatly impact how I interpret your post, so thought I should ask!

You have a guy?? Who is it?
...or was this rather a typo?
