Okay so you all hate me right now but despite this illiterates take, the Ducks DID obstruct the Flames Meagan forcheck and unless they can find a sollution to that... they are cooked.

Wait... who's cooked in this analogy? The way you've phrased the last sentence insinuates that unless the Ducks can figure out how to stop obstructing the Flames, they're cooked...? huh?

If I'm coaching, I give Brouwer one more game. If he does nothing again, he's out for someone who gives a crap.
Agree. Was at the game and he does nothing that we was touted to do. Not tough, was terrible on the powerplay. Side note, though I really don't like him, Getzlaf is a complete stud. Does everything well. From subtle elbows that don't draw penalties to big hits to points.
Was fun game to attend. Ducks fans are pretty chill, but maybe that's because they've manhandled Calgary for a decade. I'm not that down on the team, really feels like they blew it more than the Ducks owned them. I think Anaheim's defense is vulnerable to a heavy game. Even that building is vulnerable to having the air sucked outta it. When the Flames were up 2-1 it got really quiet. Stop shooting themselves in the foot and the Flames can win this.

I don't know what's worse: beating yourselves or getting beaten? I felt like the Flames were the better team until the afformentioned line change. I still think they've got a shot. This wasn't a complete domination by any means. 5 on 5 Calgary carried the play. Clean up the penalties and play their game and they've got a shot. If they continue to give up 7 pp's a game, well, then things won't go well.

Umm... you are reaching by trying to show me up by showcasing your painful inability to read? How sad. Did you go to school in Calgary? Damn Ralph Klein.

Normally I have a rule of reading an entire thread before posting in it. Not possible tonight. I started reading 3min after the game, and it was 3 pages long, I'm still reading, after a few distractions, I'm still only on page 8.
Flames gave this game away. Easy opportunity to win saturday. Stay out of the box, and don't give up a 3-on-0.
To add Hamilton was not good. Should have been smarter. Especially with 6min to go in the game when Getzlaff took the run at Gio. It was a cheep shop, and I love your passion for your team mate, but man that was dumb.
Not even going to get started on the 5-on-3. If anything I might have pulled the goalie. That said, there wasn't enough possession to consider it, and the way face offs played out I understand.
I didn't mind Johnny at all. He had some good chances, but more than anything there was good learning.
I am sure Tkachuk is going to wake up. Same with Hamilton.
I absolutely loved Backlund at the end of the game. Free shots at Kessler, and it's possible Kesslers neck will never be the same again.
Again, to reiterate, the coach has the players ears! Be tough and strong, but discipline.
And be smart! Wtf was that line change!?!?!
If there is one possible line change (assuming he's healthy) Kulak for Bartkowski. That said I'm good with the same live up next time out.
Yeah, it's a lot harder to be delusional, woe is you. Flames currently do not belong in this series. Taking the positives out of a loss it what losers do. The Flames should be pissed now and it should show in their play next game, otherwise they are just another mediocre wildcard team. They don't need their egos stroked, they need a kick in the ass at this point.
Take a chill pill. You're taking this too seriously, like someone killed your dog or something. Showing your fangs to everyone who says something decent on here.
But whatever, go ahead and vent. Even better, go send it to the flames twitter, I'm sure they need the fans to tell them to clean it up.
BTW, delusional and optimism are two different things.

Damn him indeed, for serving as premier during my kindergarten and grade one school years. Look at how developmentally challenged I am, with my terrible inability to read. God help me.

I blame heavy metal music and midget porn.

They just aren't as good. Love the Flames, but they are the inferior team by a massive margin. And Johnny is invisible against big physical teams, and always will be. A boy in a mans game.
The fact they get killed every time in Anaheim has nothing to do with 'magical voodoo curses'. It's simply they have been an inferior team for the last decade.
Tough call because the Anaheim PKers would be tired already at that point. Calling a timeout gives them a chance to catch a breather as well.
I don't disagree with the call for that reason. There's a reason teams practice PPs non-stop all year long.
There is that other side to the argument I agree.
But ultimately it is the playoffs it is not just another ho hum game and you have to as a coach make sure that everyone going into that particular 5 on 3 is focused.
It is a gut decision calling or not calling the timeout and GG did not choose correctly.
The result proves it. That saying damned if you damned if u don't. I would rather be damned if you do every time.
Would you agree the agree the 5 on 3 we saw was dysfunctional right from the beginning and had no rythem there was no flow?
For them to have 2 extra skaters and not be able to gain the zone is flat out silly.
The skaters for whatever reason were skating into each other, bouncing passes off legs, getting into each others way just simply not being smart at all. Best way I could describe that was that it was dysfunctional play.
As a HC in any sport u have to throw everything at the opponent in crisis time. This was definitely crisis time. There is a reason in most games in most team sports time outs get reserved to the bitter end.
To me that is automatically the time to call the timeout for GG don't leave it to chance. Settling the team down and drawing up the attack, that is taking control.
The fault is mostly on the players though they failed in the moment miserably.
One things the ducks did well was obstruct the for check. So much borderline interference it was crazy. Kudos to them for playing that way, flames need to find a way to generate pressure on the ducks d.
Flames were pressuring their D just fine during the first half of the game until everything went off the rails with the dumb line change and undisciplined penalties. They just need to figure out how to stay mentally focused and stick to their game plan. I have a feeling the entire team is gonna be much better in game 2.
Honestly how many of u wanted Kessler to be cross checked and slashed heavily when he pulled that crap laying on the puck?
I know I was screaming slash him cross check him all over.
I agree, that entire sequence was infuriating. Although I did enjoy watching Backlund goon it up on Kesler. It actually made me feel better about the loss.
